How well does Android manage its memory?

    I always hear that I don't need to use Task Killers as Android manages its own memory. However, I find that sometimes when I play emulators, killing tasks provides far better framerates.

    i think the point is that whilst you do not necessarily 'need' a task-killer in day-to-day use, one can be useful in certain circumstances, as you identify. I have the equivalent to a task-killer on my laptop for the same reason of playing games without other services clogging up memory

    I have a task killer but only for emergencies, i never normally use it.
    My phone has only once slowed down or locked up in the 2 months ive had it.
