ok, not quite, more like 23 hours and 47 minutes! take that haters!

I'm gonna try to describe, the best I can remember, what my EVO did in the last 24 hours so you can get an accurate idea of the usage:

-the phone was charged with a wall charger of a Samsung Rant (with the phone on)
-took it off the charger as soon as the led went green last night at 9 :33 PM (100%)
-didn't do much on it until I went to bed at 10:30, mainly just downloaded and installed some apps and wallpapers and played with the home screens a bit
-at 10:30 (after the Lakers lost to Celtics, crap!) I went to bed .
    - woke up at 5:45 am and the phone's battery was at 90% (WiFi was on during the night no 3G or 4G)
    - went to work and have used the phone pretty lightly until 5 PM
+a bit of browsing, mostly on 3G,
+no Wifi and maybe 10 min of 4G on
+installed some more apps and wallpapers
+sent and received about 10 text messages
    +about 15-20 of talk time
    +other light misc stuff
-on my way home I played with the Sprint GPS for about 7-8 minutes
-more test messaging, about 20 min talk time and light misc stuff until the EVO died at 9:14 PM

here are two screen shots of the battery usage: (it does not show thre real time since unplugged because I plugged it in for couple of minutes to get some APK on the SD card, forgot about the battery test)

I know, pretty light usage but 24 hours is not too shabby. cheers!

    UPDATE 1:
    - after letting the phone die it is now plugged in and off. I will charge it overnight and report back tomorrow.

    UPDATE 2:
    - charged my phone overnight (from 9:14 to 5:45) with the phone off. I used the Plantronics Bluetooth 230's charger. It is almost 7 am right now and the phone is at 81% with veri light usage (maybe 10 minutes of GPS and about 3-4 minutes of browsing over 4G).
Conclusion : it looks like the charger of the free bluetooth that came with the EVO is not suitable to charge our phones

So I just did another test watching the Ivory Coast-Portugal game on Sprint TV over 4G for 2 hours (the match was not that long but I let it run after the final whistle to get to about 2 hours of watching).

The battery went down from 87% to 13% in 2 hours. That is 74%.
Extrapolating that I might get an approximate of 2 hours and 20 min total of very heavy usage.
I honestly do not think there is a more battery draining and intensive test you can do on the EVO then Sprint TV over 4G.

Gps is a major battery drain, especially when you are indoors.

    Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

It's not an app. You can find it at ....

Home > Menu > Settings > About phone > Battery > Battery Use

Only if you are using GPS apps. The only app by default is the Weather app. So maybe you have too many GPS-based apps which is causing GPS to use up your battery. MY GPS is on 24/7 since I bought the phone and I've had no battery problems. Phone has been indoors basically since I bought it!

today it's been a normal use day for me on a work day. the only major thing I have not used today was 4G.

    Otherwise I:
    - made calls
    - browsed online
    - facebooked
    - text messaged
    - installed and tested apps
    - watched Sprint TV
    - used the camera
    - & more

I took the EVO off the charger at around 10 PM last night and...

when I woke up at 5:45 the battery was at 95%

then I took these screenshots during the day at 50%
    [IMG]

    and at 25%
    [IMG]

right now I'm at 20% and it is almost 9 pm. it will easily go until probably the morning, maybe even late morning until it will die since I noticed it is very good in standby ( so most likely over 36 hours on a charge)

next I will probably test it on a heavy use day this weekend (video, 720p, radio, streaming youtube, tethering, 4G and more).

I am very pleased so far

You guys with your fancy battery life. What the crap. I thought I had my problem solved by signing out of google talk, but that didn't do it. Barely made it through the day with 7% remaining, 15 hrs since unplugged but ONLY 2 hrs 45 mins awake time =/

Before I go to bed, it's at 100%. I just turn on airplane mode, wake up 8hrs later and it's at 98%

Question...and sorry if this topic has been brought up before...but WHY would someone choose NOT to charge overnight?? In the very first post of the thread "...took it off charger...went to bed...woke up with 90%"

Seems like alot of people are commenting about battery life (helping to extend battery life and/or complaining about battery life) WITHOUT charging overnight.

Isn't it better to walk out of the house with 100%...or am I nuts?? Or is there HONESTLY a reason one would NOT want to "over"charge the battery overnight???

I think the biggest reason, at least right now, is to leave it running overnight and see what the change in battery is. I've done that myself, just to help figure out what programs might be killing it. And by doing that overnight, I know I'm not going to be using it, so that won't affect the battery.

Now that I'm able to leave it on overnight and only see a 5% drop in 7 hrs of no use, I know that I have it set up well and that it will last me through the day when I need it to.

That's about the same percentage (low) mine stays at during a normal day of 3-4 hours "awake" time and 12-14 hours total "up" time (since full charge).

I don't get it, my percentages will line up with others who get good battery life, yet mine still sucks.
