hows the throttling?

So how bad are 2G speeds? Are they fast enough to watch a 10 min YouTube video?

Technically Sprint's CDMA network doesn't have "2G" technology anymore. What will happen is your 3G will be throttled to 256Kbps Upload/Download.

They just use the term "2G" because the maximum throughput for 2G data is 256Kbps.

Can you explain what you just said in simpler terms? I do not understand what data latency means.

When people think of how fast a data connection is, they typically think of bandwidth which is expressed in some form of bytes per second. In reality, a connection with more bandwidth, and thus a higher mbps value will download more data in a certain amount of time, but the connection isn't necessarily faster. Latency on the other hand quantifies how fast packets can be sent; typically on the order of ms. With that in mind for the above example, LTE/WiMax technologies typically have far less latency than 3G CDMA/ 1xRtt technologies, so you would still benefit from using 4G services even if you are bandwidth throttled. Here is an analogy, think of a data connection as a highway. Bandwidth, which is the kbps or mbps number is the size of vehicle used to transport data, while latency is the speed a the vehicle goes. If you have 1,000 boxes to transport you would complete the transfer faster with 10 semi trucks going 55 mph than 100 sports cars going 180mph, but the 2nd connection is still outright faster. Low latency is critical with applications such as VoIP, video conferencing, and online gaming where you cannot have long delays.
