I'm planning on buying the HTC in-car charger, as I need more than the 500 mA output that my existing CPW charger gives. I've seen some reviews of the HTC charger saysing that the cable is quite short. Can anyone with this charger let me know how long it is, coiled and extended?

(I have a Golf, which has the socket down near the gear stick, and I need the cable to extend up to a centrally-mounted windscreen mount).

Well the one that comes with the htc desire genuine car dock will be well long enough for that. I had a Skoda octavia which is a golf with a different body, my farther in law has it now, and I tried the one that came with my car dock, and it is any amount long enough for what you want. Will be getting another car charger tomorrow, so will see if that one is the same. The one in the car dock kit also has a sucker on it, to attach to the screen.

I have the HTC car charger cc200 and didn't like its spiral cord.
So I bought a long USB data cable for the charger.
With this combination my Desire is charging with "AC" (=1000mA) like with spiral cord
(I tried it before with the USB data cable from the HTC wand charger and had the same result).
    Maybe it help you :)

I still have it and I like to have it :) (I only didn't like the spiral cord in my car).

Because it does the "Charging AC (=1000mA)" magic with any kind of USB charger.
Even a mobile charger from Apple charges my Desire with 1000mA :D

Yeah, mine is constantly plugged into my computer for the same reason!

The HTC chargers don't need the charge-only lead to be able to charge quickly - so I've got a normal USB lead in the car, but would much rather have another coiled one for there! I'll get round to just modifying a normal lead to be charge-only eventually... surely you can get coiled leads from somewhere though?!
