Root Htc Desire and downgrading to 2.1

Hi

I need some help as i seem to be going round in circles I need to downgrade to Android 2.1 after going to 2.2 OTA. Reason i need to downgrade is bluetooth no longer works with my cars built in bluetooth which i believe is beacuse 2.2 does not have rSAP .

What would be the best rom to use and is there a 2.1 rom with app2sd with it . I do realise that i will have to root the phone first.

Sorry if the question has been asked already and i still cannot believe rSAP is not in 2.2 . On the google forums there are hundreds of posts from disgruntled users but not one comment from google themselves .
