    So people,

My HTC Desire is up and running for 3d 4h 2m 33s and I still have 55% battery left. What the hell is going on. Okay I have not used it much the last couple of days because I'm studying hard but I've mad about 10 calls, sent about 30 texts, some wifi and internet and the battery just hardly drains. I know it's not a bad thing and most of you might be jealous but I'm used to getting 40 hours max.

    Regards

Ensure GPS is turned on, WIFI when you don't need it, set all accounts to sync at the smallest interval possible and set screen brightness to full. Also, do some web browsing. That should sort it out for you ;)

You could install a Task Killer and tell it to kill everything every couple of minutes, that will use up all that extra battery power in no time ;)

The only problem with ATK's are the users that don't understand how and when they should be used.

are you running autokiller and setcpu to underclock the processor when screen is off?

I've noticed since i did this that when i go to bed at night and wake up the next morning the battery has only lost 1% .. and if i turn on airplane mode i sometimes have the same amount of battery...

Mine dropped to barely a day after the update but now get 30 hours on average. Very happy with that.

I don't get how there is such a massive difference between people uptimes, it's insane!

I have to charge mine pretty much every night...

    Status update: 4d 1h 15m 20s hahaha epic phone

I still have 33 % left. Again, not using it much because I have no life right now and I'm studying.

Since the Froyo update I estimate that my battery life has extended by about 30-40%. I don't know if Froyo is 'learning' about my useage but it seems that the battery life is gradually extending the longer Froyo has been installed.

Battery life hasn't changed for me between 2.1 and 2.2, but day-to-day the amount I have at the end of the day differs, some days I have +20% and some other days I have +50% or even +60%.

But no matter what I have it plugged in every night.

I tried posting here with my Desire but the battery died before finishing...
It had been unplugged for 7,5 hours! How on earth has the battery life gone that bad..
Looks like after I installed froyo, it's gone worse somehow. And even worse after reading an article about task killers and uninstalling that.. That should've increased the battery life, too?
Any tips in improving the battery life? Haven't tried the charging trick (10h + 2h off and something) yet. Should that be tried?

Raivo, when you go into settings > about phone > battery > battery use, does call standby happen to be 50% or higher?

My Desire has been unplugged for 8 hours today. I've been working till now so have barely used it (sent and received one text I think). Its gone from 93% to 76%. That's 2% per hour.

During that time Cell Standby is 49% and Phone Idle 48%.

    Seems OK to me.

Different apps, different settings, different roms, different preventative measures. Too many variables to not get it ;)

    4d 12h 24m 40s @ 20% battery remaining

    Well, I'm not.

Check your battery use and report back.

Yeah that's a bit high, the radio is working hard to maintain a signal.

Why is that high? It means that his phone is idle all the time and he rarely uses it. The sum of battery use is 100%; it's simple math. One percentage is used for this and the other percentage for that, otherwise you wouldn't get to 100 you see. Sorry if my explanation is weird; English is not my mother tongue.
