I have wanted a Desire for a while now, and i think ive found a good deal with Orange through CPW. The only worry i have, is that the FUP for Orange is only 500MB. Are any others on Orange, have you had any issues with this?
    What do you guys think?

To be honest with you i cant see myself using all of the 500mb allowance as i have a my own wireless network at home so it will connect to that when at home. Do you have a router at home that is wireless as you can connect to that at home, when at work i dont really use it much so i turn it off. I did ask orange what would happen if i exceeded the 500mb and i was told that i wouldnt be charged but i would be contacted and something would be sorted out. Btw im on orange

I got my phone a couple of months ago on Orange. I initially had Dolphin with 500MB 'Inclusive Internet' - anything above that and you start getting charged.

I'm now on Panther 30 with 'Unlimited Internet' - FUP 750MB anything above and they can start to restrict your speed, but crucially (for me) no extra charges).

I have wifi at home and work and last month I used 60MB via Orange and 500MB(ish) via wifi. My usage is pretty typical I would guess: some browsing every day, occasional 10 mins streaming, fair few apps downloaded and not much syncing in the background.

Roughly, a web page takes 1-1.5MB, 5 mins streaming takes 10MB so it can soon mount up if you don't have wifi.

I'm much happier now I have the 750MB FUP rather than the 500MB hard cap with charges but with having wifi at home and work my actual Orange network data usage is slight.

I'm testing how much I use this month by not using my work wifi - so far I'm upto 45MB in 3 days so I think I will get near the 750MB this month :)

Just to add, some very conflicting information comes out of Orange regarding the FUPs and any charges if you have the 500mb 'Inclusive' Mobile internet. I personally only trust the terms and conditions :

    See Section 5

I doubt I'd even get close to it if I had no wifi. Downloading a few apps a day, browsing 3 or 4 news sites and a forum or two, updating weather and emails a couple of times a day, and maybe a couple of minutes of video on BBC news. 500MB a month gives you 16-17MB a day, which is plenty for normal use. Not saying I'd mind more mind you. ;)

I am on the dolphin package with 500mb myself, but as i got wifi at home i have hardly used the mobile side.
There again my wifi is quite a bit faster than the mobile broadband.

Exactly my point really, I've been told two different things by two different customer service reps, that's why I'm going by the T&Cs and not by the conflicting responses ;)

No idea if anyone on here has been charged for going over but in the absence of a straight answer (that matches one call to 150 to the next) I'm using the stuff they've written down.

I use over 500mb a month without really trying.

Most ever was just under 1gb. Trying I could easily get near the 3gb Fup of Tmobile.
