I know there are apps on the market for this and I'm not even sure if this has been mentioned for the EVO LTE, but there is a cool little block caller feature hidden away. I found it by going through the people app->menu->manage contacts->blocked callers->add. If this isn't anything new to everyone I'm sorry for being late to the party. :smokingsomb: Doesn't seem to be a way to add unknown numbers to the list of blocked callers, but other than that it's good stuff.

PS - If anyone else knows how to get to this other than through the people app, please do tell. TIA

i thought the evo 3D had this also? i would look but im sure the battery is dead.

the phone cant block a number that it does not see, so there is no way to do that within the phone.

I've used this. If a blocked caller calls, your phone will not ring and the caller will be sent to voicemail and are able to leave a message and that message will show up in the voicemail app.

If it was on the 3D I wasn't aware of it, but would have liked to have known. There is some preacher who thinks I'm some past member of his church and calls my number OFTEN. This past member must have been very wealthy and must have contributed lots of money because he always leaves messages on how they need help with the money. I've told him several times I'm not the guy, but he keeps calling, lol. It's been two years of this.

FYI, the 'Call Control' app can block unknown numbers if anybody needs that. I don't get many of those.

No worries, I've had my device about a week and discovered this feature this morning.

If you are in phone/recent calls and click the menu button you can see this option as well.

they should take a cue from Google Voice. If you block someone you get a message that the caller number is no longer available.

Another bit of a shortcut is to long press any contact in 'People' and there is the option to 'Block Caller'.
Like Falconey said above; People -> Menu -> Manage blocked helps you further manage that list and add/delete.

There is also this route, using 'My Sprint', to universally block a specified number for a line (independent of your handset - 'My Sprint' block list won't reset if you factory restore the phone, lose the data, etc.)

Sprint.com | Block, restrict or allow voice calls using My Sprint

The only problem with blocking callers via Sprint site is that you only get 50 numbers. I have that limit filled up and still get 4-6 calls from telemarketers and machines a couple days a week.

    Holy cow!

Have you added your number to the National Do Not Call list? https://www.donotcall.gov/

Since doing that a few years ago, I never get telemarketer calls, and my cell is the only phone I have.

I use You Mail and you can set a specific voicemail for a caller. One that says this number is no longer in service maybe.

I want to say that this feature has been native to android since 2.3

It's been native on htc phones, but my wife's epic 4g wouldn't do it.

I tried to do it the same way I did on my evo but didn't see the option. I always blocked by adding to a contact called 'wrong number' that was set to go to voicemail. I tried it on hers and couldn't find that option. I'm not sure if I tried it before or after rooting.

No matter though, I traded in that hunk of junk on my LTE and gave her my E3D. She's an htc gal now because she finally has a phone that everything works on.

Oddly enough, I didn't get that many calls UNTIL I added my number to that list. I've left complaints via their site against several of the numbers and I still get the calls

Here is a way around that. Create a Contact called BlockedCalls 1, and BlockedCalls 2 etc, then as you get new calls that you want to block, add those numbers to the existing contact of BlockedCalls 1 for example, and fill up that single contact with as many numbers as possible, I think you can get a huge amount for each contact. Then turn block caller ON. This allows you to have 50 blocked call contacts, that might be able to have 25 or 30 numbers per contact, so you can get roughly 1,000 to 1,500 blocked numbers.

Hi gang! I'm new here. I recently bought a HTC EVO V 4G from Virgin Mobile, and I absolutely love it! I just blocked a call by going to the people app in Voice Mail, tapped on "add" and typed in the number. The number is now blocked. I didn't see anything about putting a separate message for blocked callers, though. So many features on this phone!
