HTC EVO Gmail Problems

My email notification shows 21 messages in my inbox.
I go to my inbox and they are not there.
If I choose menu and then accounts it shows my gmail account with 21.
If I choose my gmail account from the menu I see 21 emails, but I cannot access them or delete them.
When I try to delete one by pressing on the email until the menu pops up and I choose delete I get a message stating "The application Mail (process com.htc.androis.mail) has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again" and I have to choose Force Close.
Any ideas??

Also, I have more than one email account. It appears as if the ones I cannot access or delete may have been originally from my other account.

my evo gmail does that too! it says i have 10 new messages but they are no where to be found :/

i wish i knew how to delete my inbox. there's probably a thread or something online that says how-to but alas, i am too lazy right now to go find it haha

Those are probably new emails from weeks ago. You have to change the settings in the gmail app to access stuff past 1 week ago. Or just login to gmail on a pc and read them.
