Finally a word from HTC!!
I'm glad they've said something, maybe this will put a stop to all the silly rumours that make it appear that the update is being pushed further and further back
beginning in Q3... does that mean from July? ie. month 7?
I'll still have to wait for o2
I've come from Symbian where updates were critical. Many of the phones I had were completely useless until a couple of updates had been pushed through. My n96 was dire until 2 updates and it was completely unusable.
At the moment my desire works like a dream so I don't really mind when Froyo is released.
What is "froyo" is it an updated OS?
yeah, its the new version of android, version 2.2!
its a lot faster then the current version, upto 2-5 times faster, according to google!
and one of the many new features is that you can install your apps to the sd-card!!
it can be done in the current version 2.1, but after rooting and installing a custom cooked rom.
*sight. its typical, i held off rooting mine for this then finally caved and did it this morning... now i read this... argh!
great news though
Is there anywhere you can read up about Froyo and what it has improved on over the old OS?
And does it just automatically send an update through when its released or do you have to go a-searching for it?
Just un-root it then...
not an official statement by the way, not that i want to wee on my own bonfire or anything!
Some say it was developed by the microscopic life form of planet mars,
Some say it feeds on shattered iphone screens,
All we know is its called "GOOGLE.COM"
I need the appstosd mate i donmt mind really its just sods law i wait 3 months then the day I decide to do it news breaks on the upgrade! lol
Here you go

Haha, fair enough, don't mind me I'm just terribly tired and can't be bothered to search it out myself
finally! and i'm glad to hear hero's 1.6 been updated to 2.1!
hope to continue hear more great news!!
Q3 starts in 2 days and ends in 3 months + 2 days
Finally - can put apps onto SD card - was getting annoying having to make space on my phone all the time.
This is all well and good but when it does finally get released I will still need to wait on T-Mobile to get their arses into gear.
That said, there appears to be very little T-Mob customisation on the software that came with the phone so maybe it won't take too long.
just a quick question, how do you un-root a rooted phone..?
[TUT]Complete upgrading guide(root, unroot, flashing ROM & updates) - xda-developers
Thanks for that - saved me having to make a new thread asking about rooting etc.
