HTC Hero Battery ProblemSupport

I recently purchased an extended 2200mah battery for my HTC Hero to add some extra needed battery life to my phone. The issue I am having is that I can not seem to be able to get the battery to charge to full because the phone wont let me.

Once the battery reaches a certain level I keep getting a bright flashing red light and a small red battery symbol at the top with an exclamation symbol inside it. I also noticed that once it reaches that point that the phone stops charging and the lights will not cut off until I unplug the phone.

I'm guessing that the phone does not recognize that I have installed a larger battery and is warning me that the original 1500mah battery is at a dangerously high level.

Does anyone know how to fix the Hero so that it recognizes that it has a larger battery?

    I'm using Firmware Version 1.5.

Thanks for any help you can give me!
