Hi guys i just finished unrooting my phone today and before i unrooted it i noticed something strange, for everyone who has rooted and android before you guys know you are supposed to wipe and then flash, well i did just that, and now that i unrooted my phone and i go to default ringtones i see that there are doubles of the ringtones ex: old phone, old phone, k.o, k.o? Is there any way to get rid of the doubles?

    Thank You.

How did you unroot? If you use the RUU, there really shouldn't be a problem. I'm guessing if you still have issues, you may need to get root again and delete the directory they are held in. Then you can flash the RUU and everything should be back to completely stock. I know some custom ringtones are still on my phone after every reset you can possibly do to a Hero, so they may be fairly persistent. I will look for the folder and let you know.

EDIT: I checked. The directory for all ringtones is under /system/media/audio/. This directory has directories for all notification types, so you can go in there and delete them. But as I said above, you probably need root permissions to do so. Good news is, all you have to do is run the RUU and you will be good to go.

Thank you for such the quick reply, now i know this is going to sound dumb but i never rooted my phone in the first place, so i do not know how to root it back to the "rooted" state", i just followed the tutorial on the unrooting process and everything went smoothly, theres not a way that you can see inside of the phones directory without rooting.

Thank You again for helping me out

Edit: i downloaded astro file manager and saw the system directory and went to the file path as you mentioned above i saw the files, but in that folder there is only one of each ringtone?

If you never rooted your phone, why are you "unrooting" it?

I dident buy the phone new, so when i bought the phone from the previous owner he said he had rooted it, i dident know what that was, so i looked it up, everything looked pretty confusing and then i read the pros and cons, and i just thought why not just start fresh?
