HTC Hero - Two problems, might be related

    Hi all,

    I have two slight problems with my HTC Hero (on Orange - in the UK) which have both started at the same time so might be related...but I am not sure how.

    1) I cannot download anything from the Market. Regardless of my connection (wifi, 3G) when i select an app it just sits at 'starting download' and never moves on from there. Needless to say if I leave this to sort itself it absolutely drains the battery. I even left it to try and do it overnight (charging and using wifi) and it was still the same story in the morning. I've tried a couple of times since and no luck! And it doesn't matter whether I am downloading a new app or updating an existing one...

    2) The battery performance has suddenly dropped off. If I have my phone sitting by me at work and don't use it for anything (don't receive any texts and with mobile internet turned off) it will be down to 60% by the end of the day. Until just a couple of weeks ago it would easily still be at 90%...

    Now, these two problems may well be unrelated but it seems odd they have started at about the same time.

    I should add, I do use Advanced Task Killer and use it to close down the Market app when it's not working. So, I don't think that is what is draining my battery.

    I am currently on Android 1.5 with Orange.

    Any help would be MASSIVELY MASSIVELY appreciated!!

    For the marketplace, what I found to work on my Verizon Eris is that you always download over mobile network, and if it just sits at Download Starting, I just cancel it and start it again. Usually works for me. Although the first day I got the phone, I had a hell of a time even getting it to work. But then next day it worked fine. And that was back when I had 1.5.
