Every time I receive a text message I have to approve download, does anyone know why?
When WiFi, 3G, or 4G (data sources/radios) are enabled when an MMS comes in the phone will automatically download the MMS. Are those radios on or off when you have to select download? If you have a radio off, when you enable it the MMS will automatically download when you connect to 3G or 4G I believe or after so many minutes. I like the way it's setup. I believe it's setup that way so your phone doesn't go into an endless loop trying to download an MMS but can't and then it drains your battery. The phone will try to download it once even if data isn't available, then stop.
Under network settings, make sure you have the domestic data box checked.
Hello and welcome to our forums. I hope we can assist you with your questions today!
The messaging app asks for your approval to restrict data usage. This will prevent you from "accidentally" going over your data limit by accepting large MMS. On the sprint variant you can go into messaging-->settings-->maximum message size and increase this limit. You can also choose to receive messages while roaming.
...On the other hand an iPhone user may be sending you a group text message. There was a known issue a while back where certain iPhone users sending text messages were sending group texts as an MMS. It only affected iPhone users sending group text messages... I will try to find a thread on it.
Here it is...
