HTC One X Wifi Issues : Fixed by workaroundSupport

    Hello everyone,
    I just bought the HTC one x two weeks ago , it was working alright until yesterday when I decided to use wifi for the internet at my home. When I turn it on it just says "Disconnected" then starts scanning and it stucks there, nothing happens. When i manually enter the network stats it says Not in range.
    I did not change anything in settings. It was working just 2 days ago. Any idea what could it be?

    Wow ridiculous, it started working after I turned on ' Airplane mode' on and off. Although I did try turning the phone off and on before but it did not help. Something is not right here >.<

    I just called HTC about this, and apparently they are aware of the issue, and a fix is due at the end of May...

    Sad really. I'll turn my WIFI off for now.

    Well my wife got her white One X a few days ago and I guess she was fine with it, but I noticed her data usage was pretty high.

    I didn't pre-order (was waiting for Galaxy S3 and decided wasn't worth it), so I picked mine up on Sunday.

    Last night I noticed horrible wifi signal in parts of our house. I tried everything and nothing helped. Even stranger was that my wife's One X had 1-2 bars in the same area where mine had 0.

    Only difference is her's is white, and mine is grey. Also she has a hard cover on hers, I have none. Also, we both seemed to get frequent wifi disconnects.

    Anyway, on to the point. After reading around for a bit, I tried connecting to my wireless (2.4ghz network, 5 ghz had terrible range) and setting a static IP instead of just using DHCP.

    I was shocked to see when I set my ip address to static (x.x.x.50) that all of the sudden my wifi signal was full or 2 bars everywhere in the house.

    Just shows that it most be a software issue with DHCP causing these issues, and using a static IP seems to make everything much better.

    Quick tip, some wifi connections will not bring up the advanced options box (where you set static IP), so just enter the wrong network password if you don't get advanced options, and after failing to connect the box will appear.

    Same just happened to me, it wouldn't connect to my home wifi network, saying that it is not in range.

    In my case disabling/enabling back wifi and even doing on/off airplane mode didn't help.

    What helped is disabling mobile data, after that it connected to wifi straight away.

    First time I noticed such behavior after one week using it.

    What are the dteps to perform the update?

    Do you download the file to your dwcive, then connect to a pc and then run it, or?

    Yep, download it (it's a little less than 600Mb), connect your phone to the pc (must have more than 30% battery charge), and run the exe file.

    When it'll launch, you can access a read me file that will explain every steps, very detailed, I would advise to read it.
    Otherwise just continue on the install, it'll take about 10mns to complete.

    NOTE: you should first save everything as your phone memory will be deleted and basically restored to stock.
    Personnaly, I did a synch with HTC synch manager before to back up a few things.

    I might try it later, we'll see. I have everything set the way I want it, I'd hate to have to do it all over again. Albeit, I do have MyBackup Pro, and it says it saves Settings, but, some people state otherwise...

    Just noticed one thing though, my TuneIn Radio icon disappeared!!

    I mean the app is installed, I can launch it from My Car app or when I go in Myapps, but when I browse all my apps icons, it's not there... So I can't add the shortcut in my home music folder.... wierd...

    This just happened to me. Had the phone for a month, I regularly use 3 different wifi networks, and today wifi just stopped working. turning wifi/airplane mode/phone off/on did not fix it.

    I removed all the remember wifi networks and still nothing.
    Doing a scan does nothing.
    Manually adding a network does nothing.

    realaaa: i turned off mobile network, and still got nothing. Is this what you did?

    wifi is dead on my phone !!!

    :DThis Worked for me. Download 'smart WiFi Scanner ' from the play store. Then downloaded the library that is also from the Store. Then try again, as i said it worked for me. Gold luck.

    yep that helped for me, I'd probably try rebooting the phone if all those wifi/mobile network/airplane mode restarts do not help

    Just a general question.

    I see the wifi fix is for the AT&T HOX. Any chance this works for Canadian HOX (Rogers Network)?

    I will safely assume no, but thought I would ask anyways.


    EDIT: Nevermind this post. Just found that it is still a current issue, being resolved potentially by Rogers.

    So i guess it helps if I read the XDA post entirely.

    It seems that the fix (JSLEnterprises WiFi fix) DOES work for Rogers HTC ONE X.

    I will try it out and report back.

    Did this issue ever get fixed? My One X was working just fine until last week when it stopped working in my house. Strangely, I still get access to work wifi and friends wifi without a problem. Will stay connected all day without dropping out at all. When scanning the network at home, the HTC One X simply doesn't see the home network even though it was there before. Haven't changed anything in the wireless setup to make this happen.

    I have a dlink DWL3600AP running b/g/n network and a dlink DWL3200AP running b/g - cant see either. I have also tried plugging in an old netgear WG302 access point running b/g but again, cant see it. The 3600 can see the MAC address and the strength of the signal from the phone, but the phone cannot see any SSIDs......

    I'm running android version 4.0.4.

    Any ideas? I've resetting the wifi, w/o data on, w/o blutooth etc. etc but get nothing. I would be inclined to say its the house wifi but I'm writing this message from my laptop, connected to the network I want the phone to connect to.

    This is very strange!!!

    I might be starting to see a pattern here with this problem. I recently upgraded from a HTC Inspire 4G to a HTC One X. With the One X I have had no problem with wifi connection accept for my wifi at work. The One X finds the network and it says it has an excellent signal. I enter the password and it starts to connect. Then the signal drops to "Poor" and won't connect.

    Now here is where the problem might be. My work uses 2 wireless routers. One connects devices used for medical tasks and the other router is for the general public.

    I am starting to think that maybe the One X is having a problem because there are 2 signals so close together.

    I am going to try deacondexter's suggestion and use the smart wifi scanner to try and connect to this network and I will let you know how it goes.

    OK. I tried the smart Wifi Scanner but it still wouldn't connect to my wifi at work. I have no problem connecting to any other wifi signal. That is the only one I have found that won't connect

    I have also tried putting in a static address but still no go. I have seen the post about a software upgrade with a possible fix but I don't really want to wipe my phone just to connect to one wifi signal since my other devices connect just fine.

    Any one have an idea as what might be different on this one wifi that won't let it connect. in an earlier post I thought that maybe since there was more then one signal at the same location that the One X was having trouble handling them. but I don't have any way to test that theory.

    I am running Android version 4.0.4 and HTC Sense version 4.0 on the AT& T network.

    I just registered an account here on this forum only to thank you from the bottom of my heart for this tip, IT WORKED! I had this problem for quiuiuite some time now. Up to the point that i nearly (literally, he was on his way here) swapped my HTC One X for an iPhone 4 (nothing wrong with an iPhone, unless you're used to the ultimate undefeatable awesomeness of the HTC One X).

    So here it comes... THANK YOU FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY HEART! I salute you and tip my hat to you sir, you're a life saver! :congrats: All hail offshored! :thumb:
