HTC states off-contract price as $549 now...

    well that is realisitic seeing where other phones are being placed price-wise, most people only care about the upgrade and new price though as that is what %90 of the general public will be buying

    first, HTC is selling the phone directly, huh? also, if you are upgrading you don't get the $199 price? weird concept

    I could be wrong here, but isn't this just through the HTC phone store....like buying it from Wirefly or some other retailer where they set their own prices and conditions?

    I have often seen the new line price different from the upgrade price at sites like these.

    I don't think this applies to purchases directly from Sprint, BB or RS as those prices have been disclosed in print......

    Yeah it's pretty weird. It says you only get $199 if your opening a new account i guess

    I'm guessing that HTC might have the phone available for other networks as well. - Just a thought that ran through my mind.

    HTC's pricing is in line with everyone elses except they aren't offering the instant rebate on existing customers. You can probably still use Sprint's MIR (don't hold me to that). All resellers are going to have it priced off contract higher than Sprint. You can see that in the current Customer contract extension... 449.00 - 150.00= 299.00 with 449.00 being Sprint's price

    No it is a Sprint exclusive (for now). HTC has been selling there phones this way overseas for a long time and opened the US store for carrier purchases I believe with the HD2 on T-Mobile.

    It says in giant capital writing will not ship until JUNE 4TH... And even then it says not guaranteed to ship

    when you try to check out through the HTC Store it actually takes you through LetsTalk wireless. So HTC has a deal setup with a dealer to sell the phones. Thats why they are charging 550 for no contract phones.
