Hi everyone. I picked up a Sprint HTC Hero the other day; I came from a Windows Mobile phone and can't believe I survived on that platform! The only issue I am having is installing HTC Sync on my home desktop, which is running Vista Premium 64 bit. The software installed just fine on my XP machine at work, as well as my home laptop, which is also running Vista Premium 64 bit. Obviously the issue is with my specific desktop PC, but I'm stumped on what I need to do. I searched the forums and couldn't find anything about the scenario I am experiencing. Also, yes, I am closing all programs and turning off anti-virus when I attempt the install. Here's the deal - the install starts fine, but about halfway through I get a pop-up box that says: "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Click OK to try again, or enter an alternate path to a folder containing the installation package 'vcredist.msi' in the box below." That msi is nowhere to be found on my machine... so I cancel out of that box and get the following error message: "Error 1706. An installation package for the product Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable cannot be found. Try the installation again using a valid copy of the installation package 'vcredist.msi'." After that the install stops, saying it could not complete. Anybody else run into this or have any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
