HTC Wildfire Text Notification Tone

Hi, I have a problem with my HTC Wildfire in that it won't play any tone when I get a text message? It plays the notification tone for other notifications just not for text messages and it plays the ringtone when I have a call, but it never makes any noise or even vibrates when I receive a text. So I always miss them, it's very annoying. When I first got it it played the tone but at some point, quite a while ago now, it stopped and I'm not sure exactly when that was, but it doesn't play when I get a text anymore. Does anyone know why this is/how to change it?
