We should setup a separate forum for the Huawei Ideos S7 tablet!

after playing with it for a day here are some comments

the 2M camera takes pretty weak pictures.

I like the feel of the unit with the metal frame and stand

I like the optical scroll mouse so you cna scroll without having to use the touch sreen. I did not find that function on any of the other lower end usints I looked at. Event he galaxy doe snot have it.

the battery indicator is not very accurate. The battery life is better than it shows.

im going to try to post using it next.

My wife and I each got one for Christmas and so far really like it. I really looked at what was out there before we got these and landed here. I am very happy with the choice that we made.

I have a Droid X so I will not be using this as a phone for any reason. Also having the X, I can connect the tablet to the 3G on the X anytime I don't have WiFi.

As soon as either Huawei or a developer can get 2.2 on this tablet it should make this tablet one of the best on the market especially for the price.

The biggest problem I have right now is there is not enough storage space for all the applications I want to add. Again having the X and 8GB of space for apps, I now can't add even half the apps I want. Once we can get 2.2 then we can move apps to the 8GB storage that is in the tablet.

The other big plus will be getting flash on 2.2. Once this is done I rarely be on a PC at home any more. Just to convert my DVD's to files so I can watch them on my tablet or other things like that.

Hopefully there will be enough interest here to get our own sub-form.

yeah, the website for this thing clearly states that it has a gsm /cdma radio built in. Maybe im a moron but i have yet to hear someone activating it on a cdma network.

that would just be stupid, why sell an international product with regional locks? Not saying that is the case but that would truly be stupid...

Cdma would be difficult because you would need to be approved and make different hardware for each a la galaxy tab. Gsm is just a sim card. To keep cost down they probably only serve to their local cdma .

Searching manufacturer site. Update to 2.2 cominging in Febuary. Anyone having problems syncing with PC. Go to www.huaweidevice.com->Products&Solutions->Home device->Tablet Products->Ideos Tablet S7->Download->huaweis7_usbdriver and download and install correct USB driver. Comes zipped so you have to unzip. Has vista, vista64, win7, Win764. After installing plug units USB into computer. should hear sync sound. Go to upper right corner of device screen. Click on the two little icons with i on it. Has notifications on it. Click to sync it. should show up on MY Computer as removable disk. you can drave photos, music there to the device. Late upgrade the firmware to droid 2.2. GEEK Squad and I figured it out how to do this!

Do you have a link to where you found on the Huawei site where they have confirmed where we will have 2.2 in February? This is huge news as there have been reports, none from Huawei that they will be and that they won't be updating to 2.2. It would be nice if they have finally said this. Thanks

    Hello,

I have just got an S7 but I don't know how to install the USB driver, I have downloaded the zipped file but then it opens with a bunch more files, not anything to install. I am using win7 32bit op. system.

    Can anyone help?
Is it true about updating to 2.2 as well?

    Thanks,
    Ollie

actually, it cooperates with att, t-mo or simple mobile which i use, like they said just pop in the sim etup the apn while activating the sim and there you go, its easier just to let the agent you buy the sim card from just set it up for you though, you only need to do it if your have to do a reboot on the device but your servicde providers customer service reps can walk you through it, although you will probably have to say your using an android phone like the g1 or something.

hi folks new here, close to purchasing an Archos 101, does the US S7 in fact accept a SIM card? I was at a best buy and couldn't find the slot? (i do have bad eyes though). If it did have a SIM card slot I would be very inclined to purchase the Huawei instead

A S7 forum has been created. Please use that particular forum for all topics regarding the device.
