Help huge data usage problem

My wife has a new motorola milestone (an android phone). Ever since she got it she's been getting charged for 2 to 3 gb of data usage per month. She receives maybe 5 to 10 fairly ordinary emails a day......only. She doesn't use it for surfing the net or watching movies or youtube.....just emails! This seems a ridiculous consumption! What might be wrong?? We're getting charged huge for this and the cellphone company, Telus (here in canada) seems to have no incentive to help as they're getting to charge us for all this usage!! We don't know where to turn! HELP PLEASE!!

It is definitely not normal: if you're not watching online videos, it take a great deal of surfing to even get past the 500mb mark. My guess is that she might have downloaded some sort of spyware, I had a similar situation on my pc a few years ago. Try deleting some apps, or even a hard reset.

i think there are apps in the market that help you.. watch and track data usage.


but if all she is doing is emails.. that is way to high.
so the data eater should be easy to spot with the correct app.

This works well (you can even re-set the counters) it should show you what's using data.
