My problem started when my HTC incredible 2 would only play sound out of the left ear when connected to head phones. I thought I blew out the dust, turns out, it was just pocket lint.

In between finding the solution to my problem, I restored my phone back to the original 2.3.3 OS, the verizon crap OS. Since my problem was fixed, I wanted to root my phone again. I installed ROM Manager premium and this program told me I could not back up, I dont have root access. Trying to do this, I messed up somewhere and now my phone only boots to a white HTC logo screen.
Here are a few options I have.
I can copy any files to my SD card via computer
I can get to the boot loader here is the stats it gives me

when I enter RECOVERY it takes me to a HTC screen and then puts me in the Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4 menu.

This is what I do before backup up... I enter recovery:
    wipe data/factory reset
    this formats
    I wipe dalvic cache
    I format /system
I have a few old backups on my SD card. When I try to recover to one of these backups, I get this error.
    Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4
    checking MD5 sums
    Erasing boot before restore...
    restoring boot image...
system.img not found. Skipping restore of /system
data.img not found. Sikpping restore of /data
.android_secure.img not found. Skipping restore of /sdcard/.android_secure
cache.img not found. Skipping restore of /cache.

    restore complete!
Can I just take a zip file of a rom, copy it to my SD card and restore it? Do I need something different.

Im a big fan of clear, step by step instructions.

    Any help is appricated.

I found this in this form.
    [ROM] Unofficial CM9 for vivow (2012-07-12) - xda-developers
I downloaded the top two files
    ROM: Downloads - Browsing
    GApps: Downloads - Downloading

and saved them to my sd card (do not rename) and do not save it in the root on the SD card (put them in a folder)
Then go into recovery in the bootloader
    This loads revolutionary CWM
in this menu select 'install zip from sdcard'
then select 'choose zip from sdcard'
now browse and find the files
install the files in this order,
    ROM: Downloads - Browsing
    GApps: Downloads - Downloading

when both of these are installed, reboot with your fingers crossed.

The first boot will say on the htc screen for about 30 seconds, then dump to the cyanogen splash for about 5 min. It then pops up with a welcome screen, english USA.

I hope someone finds this post useful as I tried to make the step by step detailed.

im not sure why youre backups were failing, but its good to hear flashing a rom got you back to a working phone. thats a fairly old version of CW that revolutionary installs. may want to consider updating the newest CW,amon, ext 4,or twrp.

i personally run amon on all my devices, when possible.

other roms should work also,if someone finds themselves in a similar situation. :)
