I NEED to Remove Verizon Remote Diagnostic! (Avast Anti Theft)

But I can't. Everything I've read on line says it's not removable. Verizon tier 2 ts said you can't remove it. Gotta be a way!
I've installed Avast Mobile, mostly for it's anti theft feature. It can't be activated with Remote Diagnostics because "it occupies a very high SMS receiver priority which conflicts with Avast. It is recommended you uninstall VRD. The Uninstall button says it's uninstalling but then says "uninstall was not successful". I tried doing a Force Stop but that didn't help.
Any way of getting around this?

You would need to root your phone to remove/freeze any system apps (which this probably is). I recommend freezing the app instead of removing it, since removing it may cause OTA updates to fail.
