Root I think I goofed...

So, I'm sorry if this is a repetitive question.

But, I downloaded the 2.1 root, was I supposed to root 1.5 first, because I cant get into recovery mode. I'm rooted on 2.1 and want to go back. I'm on a MAC, so most of the directions on here aren't working. Is there anyone out there with the patience to help a brother out?
