Smooth. No problems. Went to the XDA site and followed the instructions. Also installed a recovery program. Sweet.

Pretty straight forward. I got hung up on one part but figured it out.

Maybe he/she found a way to actually lock it first?

I doubt it lol since they don't sell a locked version, and if I remember correctly harsaphes got the phone before it was released, if a subsidy lock is not built into the OS, which it wouldn't in this case there really is no way to lock it unless you recompile the OS and lock it lol

If you buy the contract Nexus One for $180 I believe it is locked... no?

You are locked into your contract, but the phone itself is not locked.

No. Find Engadget interview with Erick Tseng, the Android Product Manager, he said the phone is not locked even if you buy it using 2 yrs contract.

What the OP means is probably unlocking the bootloader

What did this add to your phone, if anything at all? Have you found any other issues with it in this state?

In a recent thread here, someone wrote that Tseng said it was unlocked in that video.

Whoops. I've been up late doing work and I completely misread that. Sorry. +rep for not being a jerk about it.

EDIT - Can't rep right now - have to spread it around first.
