Help Icon: Letter i in circle w/line through it, notifications not working

Galaxy Tab 10.1 - Status Bar Notifications have stopped working, and instead there is now an icon on the status bar that consists of a letter "i" in a circle with a diagonal line through it. The only other icons still there are the Wi-Fi icon and the battery indicator, as well as the time.

I hope someone has an idea better than the Samsung rep, who said! to reset the tablet back to its factory state.
