well .. i was looking for a solution after i got frustrated with my moments battery life (some i phone killer we bought)

Don't you guys wish you could buy a carbon nanometers battery for your moment? (supposedly they last up to 40H but are still in development and will be for a few more years)

Anyyyyyyyways .... i would gladly pay for a monster sized battery that would fit in on the stock one but with 3 times the size. It would be such a big deal of weight/size and it would hold 3 X the charge.
There could be an after-market battery cover to fit the phone and allow for the extra room.

I'v seen this in other devices before. and i will be messing with it.
(depends on how many ppl flame and insult me on posts i will try it or not)

but theoretically one could get three batteries and connect/solder them in a way that they are connected to increase charge and not voltage.

battery number one would go in the normal position.
battery number two would go mounted on top of it (probably glued)
battery 3 would go over the SD card slot (probably glued to a long thin piece of plastic sandwiched between batteries number one and two to allow normal usage of the SD card when monster battery is removed.

then i would have to find a way to create some kind of molded plastic cover to fit all that crap in.

    what do you guys say?
    sounds interesting?
    wanna see this?
    am i an idiot?

i don't know im kinda high right now but if you guys would like to see this i will give it a shot (i already have 3 batteries)

[You get respect points for providing constructive criticism]

Theoretically its possible, feasibility is questionable however. Problem #1 i see right off the bat is battery 3 in your suggested configuration would not only cover the sdcard (no big deal as the battery has to be removed to get it out anyways) but also would cover the camera lens/flash. The second problem would be heat dissipation. The single battery alone can get quite toasty....having another one top will cause the #1 battery to lose any heat dissipation ability it has (except into the phone which is far from preferable) killing the battery that much faster in the process. A more feasible option would be a custom sized single unit battery with the base being the same size as the stock battery and 'top portion' stopping just short of the camera hardware. A internally contiguous design would have better heat dissipation (probably still not great unless some kind of heatsink were integrated). The easiest part of the operation would be a molded plastic cover to accommodate the new battery while tapering down flush to the camera assembly and rear speaker. Lastly ergonomics would be an issue for some people. A lot of people i know already think the moment is too big...adding more girth would make the phone more cumbersome than most people would want to tolerate i believe.

    WOW ... actual constructive feedback!
i did NOT expect that (guess i gotta stop hanging around /b/*****)

    1) I don't think heat would be a really big issue. I live in FL and sometimes when i forget the phone on my cars dashboard it gets so hot that it is unbearable to hold it, yet still functions properly and there is no damage. In case internal heat would cause damage i could separate the two batteries with a thin channel in the plastic mount.

    2) now that I'm more sober i see you are correct. Battery number 3 would still run over the camera. i could go around this by mounting battery #2 about half an inch lower. the space its just right so that it would fit both batteries and not cover the camera (although it would cover the speaker) wich again im willing to sacrifice for REAL battery time. Also the batteries would have a small spacing for heat dissipation and maybe it would act as a sound channel too and not affect the speaker too much.

    3) you did mention that the molded plastic part would be the estiest part. Can you please provide some information on how to do this? i am genuinely interested in doing this and I know how to do the electrical stuff. If i could figure out how to make a solid and sturdy backing that would fit. I would definitively do this.

    4) Do you think anyone would pay any kind of money for something like this? i will make a model for myself and depending of results i might make a website to sell them. (also I found a place that sells 2100MH batteries that fit our phone so it would last a LOT longer)
    2100mAh X 3 = 6300mAh
    6300mAh : 1440mAh = 4.375
so my monster battery would last 4.3 times as much as the standard.
by my calculations on my particular case that would be about 16 Hours of real use!!!

Any help and feedback would be greatly appreciated.

    p.s.
does anyone know what would be the implications for charging (besides the obvious long time to fully charge??)

Im a computer tech and not a fabricator by any means. I can give you idea of the process but thats about it. Basically you would need to make a mold of the shape of the phone with the new battery in it while maintainig the integrity of the slide locking tabs that hold the cover to the phone. As i mentioned before you would want to also make sure there is a taper from the ends of the battery down the phone back for structural reasons. Dont want a big air gap that creates weaks points in the cover. Also want the cover flush to the camera hardware so you don't get edges in the picture frame. Once you've got a mold its just a matter of melting down the plastic and filling the mold, letting it set, put on some finishing touches with an exacto blade and voila.

nevermind today i recieved one of the 2100 batteries and its lasted 15 hours of phone only usage (talk a bit and standby) so im guessing that it would hold at least 4 hours of charge of smartphone use (browsing, games etc .....)

    eBay
    $10
no as i charge on an external charger (my phones USB port is broken)

Also iv noticed that when i power cycle my batteries (even the old ones) they last a LOT longer

power cycle = let them die all the way then charge all the way

I haven't been able to find an extended battery anywhere that uses the original battery cover, can you post a link? TIA

The Moment was an okay mid-range phone, but no one ever claimed it was an iphone killer.
