if im rooted and have a custom rom will i revieve updates?

    im rooted and a new updates coming out will i recieve it? or will i have to unroot?

    If the devs push the updates you will. I can;t say with certainty that all ROMs receive this treatment, but I do know that the big players do.

    from my understanding you're supposed to unroot before trying to download updates OTA. at least that's what i did.

    My wife's phone is rooted and rom'ed w/bb0.5 and received the ota notification today. I accepted the update, phone booted into the recovery triangle, and I pressed the power button. Recovery menu came up and said the update failed, so I re-booted and the phone came up normally. The ota notification should not come up again.

    If you're running a ROM chances are you've already got any benefits the OTA update would give you. Developers stay ahead of Verizon's curve... WAY ahead. I wouldn't sweat the updates. I know on UltimateDroid I have never received an OTA notification.

    I was under the impression that most of the ROM developers purposefully disable that functionality. If you are rooted and rom'd you don't want to apply a stock OTA patch/update from V.
