Debates around if apps can see the internal memory. Third party file app Astro sees it and can edit & create files in it. This means that it is a case for app devs to update and link to it as an option. HTC is not likely going to be able to map the data as external memory, since that would kill the 748mb allocation we are using for apps now.

Devs are going to have to step up. Send notes to the devs, or it will never be accounted for.

Game emulators, maps apps, media, dictionaries etc. Speak now, or forever hold your peace :)

Game emulators already see external storage. They install to internal, but you can put all your ROMs in external/SD card.

Android 2.2 is rumored to introduce Apps2SD to allow installation to external memory. Just be patient, since 2.2 is supposed to be out fairly soon (<3 months).

2.2 will be out fairly soon but who knows how long it will take HTC to update Sense onto it. They took like 5 months to get Sense onto 2.1. For the time being your better off getting dev's to update their apps to read and write to the internal 8GB.
