Root If you need help rooting, i'm the guy

I'm saddened to say that i won't be able to help anybody unless its Saturday because i just started my fifth year of college so i'm going to be really busy, i already got 1 essay on my first day.

Rooting in the simplest explanation is looking at your phone like a computer. Now if your not the administrator you have certain things you can't do. But if you are the admin, you have full access to everything. This is what rooting is, it grants you "superuser" permission over phone. Basically the best way to look at it is, getting more out of your phone and trust me you won't regret it once you do make the jump. The custom ROM scene for the X is coming full swing, and also the custom themes are coming along nicely. Hope this helps

got any ideas on how to do it from ubuntu linux? I went through a root tutorial or two but it seems to me that they skip a step and it goes from an orderly and logical progression to chaos.

2.1 Rooted w/ Easy Root
Kouches Bootstrap Recovery installed and full backup done

Some themes I see have an update.zip. Is it as simple as putting that at root and go into recovery and apply?

I dunno what to do. I am in PC Mode and USB Debugging is "Enabled" but it doesn't show up in the Notification area...any help bud?

In 2.2 media sync mode works like pc mode
So what you need to do is first turn debugging off and put it in media sync and let your computer install the drivers, then turn debugging on and let it install the drivers again
You should be good to go after that

Ok somehow got it to recognize, but at step 16 from the site...I get a $ instead of the #

Thats normal, it just means you have root.
