• After 15+ years, we've made a big change: Android Forums is now Early Bird Club. Learn more here.

I'm just gonna go ahead and ask it (NSFW)

To clarify: what my issue is, is that you took issue with porn being a subject matter, but I've never seen any issue with foul language. On a personal note, I don't care about foul language, or porn..just the hypocritical nature of having a problem with either/or. To be honest with all the violence on tv, viagra ads and the like...exposure to porn or f bombs is meaningless to our youth today anyway..

P.S. thanks for the site suggestions to all here!

While I agree with you on the tv, viagra ads, swearing and all, how does that have anything to do with OTD being hypocritical. OTD created viagra ads? It's a community website where pornography isn't tolerated by the owners.

What is so hard about that to understand? There are pronography forums you can visit. This is a phone forum and designed to be be suitable for all ages.

This isn't a public domain for you to trade pornography websites.

Nudity traumatizes you? lol wtf?

Anyways, nudity is all over the TV (and elsewhere.. magazines, etc.) in Europe (for kids to see).. it's America and Canada that is all uptight about nudity and porn.

I meant traumatizing to kids, not to me. :p

Still, there's a difference between a nude person on TV and the content on porn websites, we should at least agree on that.

If you get offended by this thread. Then why you have the internet? Why you have a TV. Why take your kids out in public. No matter where you go you see sexual content or someone swearing. So someone asking for a porn site that works on his phone is comical at best. I think the mod handled it the way he or she should have. Even gave the warning if links was posted then it would be felt with.

I know being mod is a thankless job. Just can't make everyone happy. I bet these people that posted about having kids don't realize what their kids say once the parents are not around. If you want an example just listen to game play on Xbox live. I hear kids that are like 9 years old talk about sexual acts and cuss like a sailor. Lol.

To the original poster if You have to watch porn on your phone. Then you have a problem and need to seek professional help. Lol

Oh yeah even the op in his title put nws to warn people of the content might offend some and keep other that might be at work from getting in trouble. Hats off to you op you perv lol

First of all, I think porn is much more offensive than foul language (unless it's racist/derogatory language directed specifically towards someone)

Second, what the hell are you people talking about when you say they don't moderate language on here? I've seen countless posts (including some of my own) that have been edited due to language! The mods don't have some special search tool that finds EVERY foul word in EVERY thread... if it bothers you, report it so they see it and I promise you it will be taken care of

Why do humans get offended? What inside us causes this chemical reaction?

It's probably related to what was once, in antiquity, considered a threat to the tribe, clan, community, etc.

Homogeneous societies are able to arrive at a consensus much easier on things such as this, for that reason.

But we're a mixed group in here, from all over. We can only agree on what the rules are as they are and abide by them to remain in good standing here. We can influence the rules a bit (Suggestion Box and Feedback), but it's up to the owner to decide what's up. ;)

I think some of it is what we were told to find offensive. Not able to remember any examples now, but I know there were things that I thought were offensive based on what I was told till I actually experienced them and realized I was not offended at all.

+1..thats kinda the crux of the problem and maybe why we see so much in the way of hate and sex crimes in the US..just a thought. Whenever you're deprived as a youth of doing things or seeing things...those things become that much more coveted when you're old enough...seen many a nut case grow out of some religious right repressed individual growing up..fairly indigenous to the US

Reminds me of seeing jaywalkers every day downtown. Most brag about doing it all their lives. ;)

The rules here (or in the crosswalks) should not have to be "enforced," they're mostly just common sense little sayings in the user guide for the site

You can't really compare jaywalking to breaking rules on a forum. You could die if you jaywalk. Are you saying those forum rules are in place so I won't kill myself? If rules didn't need to be "enforced" there would be no need for moderators. I know you are speaking ideally, but hell if we're going to speak ideally, why not just say we shouldn't need any laws at all. All rules and laws are supposed to be based on common sense, which is subjective and is exactly why what you think is common sense isn't to someone else and thus we need law enforcement and moderators. My "enforced" question was rhetorical too by the way.

Relegating my rhetorical comparison to a true comparison and your rhetorical question to nothing but rhetoric is convenient only if the point of my post you quoted was missed entirely by you, Endoran. ;)

The comparison was about the attitude and responsibility of the rule breaker, not about the relative valence of the rule being broken.

You rhetorically queried, "were the rules being enforced in August," as if it is up to enforcers and not to members/citizens at large to be responsible and know and follow the user guidelines here.
