Couldn't resist paying only $4.99 to get this GPS app. I love Google NAV but the fact that it depends on a data connection is a downer, especially when I'm in a bad connection area. The data lock issue with the Moment also made Google NAV risky to use as the sole navigation device in the vehicle.

I downloaded(took an hr for 1.2GB) and installed CoPilot Live today and used it to navigate me home. It did a good job even if the map isn't the nicest looking. I liked the exit lane graphics and also the various info selections that can be displayed on the map(ETA, speed, etc.). Battery consumption was low and in between I was able to take calls and listen to music without any FCs.

I'd recommend all of you to get it if GPS Navigation is a big deal for you.

I thought GPS in general on this phone required a data connection? Can you stay in contact with GPS satellites w/out a data connection with this app?

I was checking the data connection EVDO arrows while CoPilot was navigating and noticed it was in dormant "D" mode. With Google Nav the arrows are solid up down due to the maps being loaded. I haven't tried it in "Airplane Mode" but don't think GPS will work as all communication is disabled in AM.

if you turn off mobile data and leave gps on copilot will work fine..

i love it for the custom route you can make using way-points... and then it will actually navigate you through the route you picked! just great since i ride a motorcycle and don't take the most direct routes anywhere

I'm running Amstel 2.0 ROM with the old meatkernel 2.0.7. It's very stable for me and so not bothering with updating to anything new.

Hmm, I tried CoPilot Live a few months ago (app 2-3 months ago) and it didn't work at all. When I contacted the CoPilot folks, they stated that they couldn't guarantee it to work for the Moment... I'm not using a custom ROM - just the stock Android 2.1.

I would be interested to see some screenshots of CoPilot on your Moment. Perhaps I can give it a try again... Did you have to do anything to make it work on your Moment?

I have rooted my Moment and running Amstel Rom 2.0. I have a long commute of almost 40 miles each way and use CoPilot live everyday just to stress test the app. Honestly, it hasn't forced closed once since I got it. You can actually see youtube videos of the app in action.

I put CoPilot Live through some rigorous testing this past weekend. I drove almost 600 miles in Georgia and Florida going through mostly rural roads and some US highways. For the most part I was satisfied with the performance although there were times when the GPS was fooling CoPilot into thinking I was stopped or driving over gravel, cotton fields or over water. I believe the GPS in the Moment is not very good and the gps fix that's out there is not for driving navigation. The phone randomly rebooted a few times which I think was probably due to the heat.

Just a word of caution, CoPilot's map needs to be updated to include many roads that have been there for over 3 years but which show up as either missing or just called "Unnamed Road". The voice reads all US highways as "us" which gets to be annoying after a bit.
