Hey you want a laugh, go to att.com and type "Captivate" in the search box. This is what comes up:
If you type "iPhone 4" in the search box, does an Aria pop up?
What's funny to me it that the Captivate is $199.99 and the iPhone 4 is $199.00! Buy an iPhone and save .99 cents!
I can't wait til apple goes to other carriers. AT&T has lost all attention for other phones.
I could not agree more!
I've been a long time AT&T customer. The service has been very good as has the coverage. I'm on a smartphone of one kind or the other ten hours a day as I travel within california. My new Captivate is the best of any I've had when it comes to phone clarity quality and hanging onto a signal.
Yet since the day they began selling the iPhone, the others have received little attention. It seemed like an awfully long wait for a good Android phone like the Captivate. The sooner the contract with Apple expires, the happier I will be.
I'm thinking that something is going to happen to the hole AT&T and apple contract thing soon. I have noticed better offerings coming out now or in the near future and AT&T seems to be jumping on the windows 7 mobile bandwagon.
They are going to push the iPhone 4 more than ever given the fact that their exclusivity ends next year. Guess it's another way to do it.
as far as I'm concerned, apple is a thing of the past. Same OS, same screen, same phone. It's just plain boring to ME.
Same OS? Not Quite
Same Screen? Definitely not. It's resolution is much better than the pentile tech used on the Captivate.
Same Phone? Don't think so. Front facing camera. Better camera than the Captivate AND it has a decent flash now.
Why post when you don't even know the facts?
Well baldilocks, you sometimes post without knowing the facts. Like when you tried to insinuate that I must be lying about my quadrant scores being in the 900's stock. Just because you had never seen a vibrant score in the 900's stock doesn't mean it didn't happen. I also happily posted a picture of my stock quadrant score.
Just saying, if you are going to call someone else out, you should be reminded you've done the same thing. Obviously Vibrants get in the 900's stock, so you didn't know your facts either.
Are you saying you are both wrong?
Are you wrong about being wrong?
What are you talking about? I'm just saying, few weeks back, in one of the threads, I mentioned how my phone gets a quadrant score in the 900's, stock out of the box, without having to do any lag fix. Goldilocks made some snide comment about how he had never seen a stock vibrant score that high, insinuating I was lying about my score. so I took a pic of my quadrant score and posted it.
I am just saying, if Goldilocks is going to call people out like that, then he should take some of his own advice. Clearly just because he had never seen a vibrant score 900's stock, doesn't mean it's not possible. He didn't know his facts, and he mis-spoke. Now he is trying to police others and call others out.
Here is a fact. Everyone on this forum has at one point or other said something that may not be 100 percent factually incorrect. Doen't mean you have to be a prick about it when someone else does it.
But Bob is definitely right in this case. There is a new OS, and there is a better camera, and there is definitely a better screen.
Read the post again. It's his opinion. Why attack him for having an opinion?
Sorry, but I have to agree, there is no real significant jump from 3GS to the 4. I can't seem to find a reason to upgrade to iPhone 4. Front Facing camera? How often are you going to use that? The screen is better, but meh.
I agree that the iPhone 4 is not a huge upgrade over the 3gs. The iOS is mostley the same with a few changes. It looks the same, feels the same and that gets really old for some people over time. The screen might have a higher res now, but it's still 3.5in and I don't think that will change anytime soon!
The screen name is Baldilocks. Either type it correctly or don't type it at all momma's boy.
I still don't believe your quadrant scores were that high stock. The fact that you REMEMBER me calling you out on them means you were being deceptive about it in the first place.
Who cares if it's only 3.5". With the iPhone I need only a thumb to sweet the entire screen area - with my Captivate I can't do that. That's saying something for a guy who can palm a basketball.
There was a reason that the screen size was chosen by Apple, it's because they actually do ergonomic and physiology research.
you probably have some short thumbs and your hands are really strong, i just switched from an iphone and yes the screen is a lil clearer but hell i was cool with my old 3g screen, the only big improvement for me was the front facing camera but hell i dont have anyone to use it with so whats the point, and i too can grip a basketball but my hands are big in which the captivate works better for me in size, and the reason i got rid of my iphone was basically the form factor, phone basically looks the same
Why don't you have an iPhone then? If apple does so much research then they would know that not everyone is content with a 3.5 inch screen, that putting glass on both sides of a phone is stupid and their external antenna design is a failure!
I do, I have an iPhone 4 and a Captivate. I use the iPhone 4 about 95% of the time now.
My iPhone 4 blows the Captivate away in the reception department as well, so I am pretty sure you have no idea what you are talking about. I can sit the Captivate down on a desk and watch it fluctuate from 5 to 0 to no signal and in between. (I've had two and they both do that.....)
I don't have any problem with it being glass on both sides. (shrug)
I also had an iPhone 4 and the reception was about half to three quarters of what my 3g offered. I have 8 friends who bought the iPhone 4 and 6 of them have returned them for the same reason, poor reception. I'm not talking about the hole "hold different" issue, just poor overall reception. I'm not trying to say that the iPhone 4 won't work for some people, but it sure didn't work for me. I'm just not happy with the same (basically) old phone with reduced reception!
And we all know the signal bars on the iPhone are completely trust-worthy and accurate, right?
I owned a 3G for 2 years and it was enough of iOS for me. I just got so tired of the closed platform and Apple's little tricks to try and end Jailbreaking. I too agree, that the new iPhone 4 has very few new features to make me want to spend another 2 years with it. At work, we have moved everyone to iPhones from Palms to everyone's delight. But whenever one of those users sees my Captivate, they check it out and wish they had one over their iPhone 4.
I'm not saying one is better than the other indefinitely, I'm just saying that I prefer my Captivate and Android over iPhone and iOS.
So why don't you run along and go play with your iPhone.
As for your ridiculous point about a front-facing camera... who cares? Its a failed tech, everywhere its been tried (do your research in countries such as Japan and Korea, who had the tech WAY before us). How many people do you know that use it? I don't know any.
This is a Samsung Captivate forum, not a iPhone circle jerkasm. If you don't like what someone has to say about the iPhone, then trot your little fanboyism butt to the Apple forums.
That is until you drop the phone, now it's twice as likely to shatter. As for your previous argument, I want to know what's improved about he OS? Wallpapers, folders...and uh that's it. So innovative.
A higher resolution screen is no reason to upgrade and who will honestly use the front facing camera besides the one time they try it out because it seems cool?
Ok...retina display and better camera options
Same screen size (if not smaller)
Same boring OS that you can only do so much (the ability to add folders and have a custom background.....ohhhh!!!!!!)
other than that how much of a change do you see on a 4 year old phone line-up. With the upgraded firmware 3GS has backgrounds, folders and multi-task. I guarentee they held of on the white version so the can release it next year and call it the Apple 4GS.
Like I said.....not much of a difference.
