Hello Everyone,
I wanted to share my experience with my new HTC Jetstream after having it unlocked:
I bought my tablet from at&t in the States and had shipped out to me in West Africa.
I purchased the $850 no commitment version thinking that it would be unlocked and thus make it capable of use on a different network to at&t.
I was wrong and the tablet arrived locked to at&t and with an at&t sim card installed.
I remember that the tablet WiFi worked when I first got tablet before unlocking it using htcimeiunlock.com (they are totally legitimate and provide a speedy unlocking service for $25).
After the tablet was unlocked and I inserted the sim card of my loal carrier I was unable to use the WiFi!!
I was in a blind panic and thought the tabet had become bricked by the unlocking process.
The tablet would briefly find WiFi networks which would then disappear after a few seconds and before I was able to logon on to any. The tablet would also alternatively scan endlessly for WiFi networks without finding any.
The solution I found is to re-insert the at&t sim card, with which the tablet came equipped, and the wireless would work perfectly again!
Of course with the at&tsim inserted I am unable to log on to any GSM or 3Gnetwork where I am because at&t is not available here.
So when I need to use the local GSM or 3G network I use my local sim card but then insert the at&t sim card when I need to use WiFi.
It is not ideal but I am to happy to know that my shiny new HTC Jetstream is not bricked to care about that.
Hope this helps someone out there one day.
