iMessage for android app? Is this real?

I want to be able to send an iMessage from my iPad to someone who has an android phone. Is this possible? Or do we both need to download an app?

I found this site that says it is an app online, but can't find it in google play. I haven't been able to find any reference on it in any forums either. It is called iMessageonandroid .com

You want to send a message from an apple device to an Android phone.

Android can receive industry standard messages. If apple's messaging program can't send it out, that is an apple issue. Isn't apple's proprietary message system supposed to translate it to an industry standard message for you if the phone you are contacting is not also an apple phone? If so, that is apple's issue.

Simplest way is to download Google hangouts on your iPad. The android phone will already have it.
