Help Important Icons disappeared (phone, messaging, contacts, etc)

Recently the 4 major icons at the home screen disappeared. You know the ones above the menu -home-back-search buttons. It is the phone, messaging, contacts, and applications icon that have vanished and the only icon in that spot is the application icon. Any idea what happened to the icons? Thanks for the help.

It sounds like you have managed to turn off touchwiz and reverted back to stock android.

I've never disabled Touchwiz (I actually like it a lot), so I've never tried to switch launchers on my phone.

The suggestion in that thread might work for you to switch back.

If you go to the apps tray, press the settings drop-down, and then the edit button, you can drag the icons of the apps you want onto the launch tray for the home screen

Just find the phone (dialer) app in the app drawer and long press it, the home screen will appear and you can then drag it back to the dock.

I have the same problem with the phone dialer, contacts, etc disappearing. not sure how to access Touchwiz but have been unable to restore the icons. I downloaded go launcher EX and it seems to work just fine.
