Root In call sound problems after rooting?

I am able to hear everyone just fine but nobody can hear me (mic isn't working). It only works if I use speaker, but then everyone can hear my conversation. I tried rebooting, flashing different roms, removing battery but nothing solved the problem.

I have recently got a refurb and I'm getting another one in the mail in 2 days, and don't want to root if it's causing problems with in-call sound. Also had flashed the froyo baseband, i don't know if this did anything cause I don't know if basebands affect the microphone?

Anyone have any ideas?

Do you keep hitting mute by accident? My mic muted itself the other day. Beyond that, haven't had any problems.
