I fully charged my incredible when I recieved it. first impression of the hardware were that it feels like a great size, a little thinner (widthwise, not depth) than i was expecting, and the weight is perfect, not too light to feel like a toy and not heavy enough to feel like a brick.

First impressions of the software and set up. Set up was a breeze for email and social networking stuff, almost instanteous. Only gripe: imported my contact from vzw backup and had to manually link facebook contacts to address book one at a time, there may be an easier way, but i didnt find it (blackberry updated 90% of them automatically) After getting the hang of the sense and scenes, ti is unbeleivably customizable....almost never ending possibilities.

First impression signal and battery: my only concerns are here...had my phone charged fully and activated by 2pm, setting up and messing around with the phone killed battery to less than 5% by 4:15...I hope that a normal day is MUCH slower in terms of battery use. Signal stength was never a problem in my office with my BB tour, but with the Incredible, it was bouncing between 3G and 1x the entire time....hope that fixes itself over time....

overall, I love the phone in terms of layout and operating system, may have to get an extended battery, heres to hoping they make one that fits in the stock place so it doesnt take away from the phone's thin size. and need the signal strength to improve...

Good info..thanks. Did you update the prl via *228 option 2 to see if the 1x switching could be stopped? may not make any difference, but it would be worth a try.

As far as the battery goes, the first charge will not be near the potential of the battery. I'd give it a month and see what happens.

Just ordered my Incredible today, sold my Droid last night, i'm really looking forward to this phone!! My Motorola Droid slowed down significantly in the 8 months that I owned it, It wasn't zippy at all anymore!! especially after 2.1 was installed with live wallpapers. People complained that my voice was muffled during calls although they were always clear as a bell on my end, jumped from 3g to 1x all the time (South Suburbs of Chicago). I will post again after my phone arrives, hopefully the experience will prove to be a pleasant one.

Can't wait to get one on the 29th!

There's a lot of useful info in regards to battery life on the Droid Eris forum, which would apply well to the Incredible as they're both HTC devices that run Sense UI. I have the Eris and see lots of parallels between the two. The Incredible is just an Eris on roids! Many of us are running the leaked 2.1 OP and have mastered the settings, it's worth checking out...

Hope you enjoy the new phone and thanks for sharing!

I was told when I bought my Motorola DROID (which I returned for the Incredible), that the Android's and all the newer smartphones only go to 3G when they NEED to or whe you are WEB-BROWSING, that is why you see the bouncing back and forth.

This is just what I was told - then again, if you told me you got your Incredible already, I would believe that too! ;)

In one way it "might" make sense... 1x uses less battery and frees up Verizon's Network more, so why lock in on 3g? But on the other hand, does the constant switching result in a "bust" that can ultimately run your battery down faster. Kind of like the theory that if you are going to be going in and out of a room 5 times in 5 minutes, its cheaper to leave the light on (something stupid like that).

    Just food for thought!

Mythbusters tested whether it was better to turn the light off when you left the room (to maybe make a cup of coffee) and unless you can make that cup of coffee in about 3 seconds, it is better to turn off the light. The results may not have been exactly 3 seconds, but it was an impossible amount of time. The surge is nothing compared to excessive use.

I imagine leaving 3G on when not in use is exactly like leaving the light on when you leave the room.

But unlike the light, the phone is constantly trying to connect to 3g when it doesn't have it, or at least that's my understanding of it.

A gentleman at my church is a Verizon phone tester and when I showed up this evening he pulled his test version of the Incredible from his holster.

Needless to say I nearly decked him and ran away with his phone.

The phone was a beauty to hold and he allowed me about ten minutes of play time before I had to leave. All I can say is I am in no way disappointed in the fact that this is my next phone.

    Some interesting things:
His phone said HTC below the red earpiece, he said it will say Verizon obviously for retail versions.
His phone had the Verizon logo on the bottom right of the battery cover where the retail versions will have "with GOOGLE"
He had an eight digit serial number engraved on the front panel just to the left of the optical trackball in an xxxx-xxxx fashion.

This thing was blazing fast, he had the live wallpapers running and showed me how when you wake the phone the animated weather app works. The screen had clouds pass over it. Awesome!

I asked about the plasticky cheap feeling mentioned in reviews and he said it must be coming from the battery cover. He pried it off and gave it to me and it is definitely very thin and cheap feeling standing alone from the phone. The phone as a whole feels very nice and substantial.

He answered most of my questions concerning the email signature, Sense scenes and app storage. To wit, the sig can be changed, scenes are manual change but he thinks scheduling can be accomplished via an app and the onboard storage is not recognized by apps. He believes that could easily be fixed by updating Android.

He had five separate emails running and said the biggest problem was that he could only access the past 2-3 days of POP3 emails and not his entire Inbox.

He hadn't seen any accessories but was hoping for the desk dock.

*EDIT* Oh, and he let me lay it down on a table. Absolutely lays at an angle due to the camera lens.

I am in NOVA too. How did you get your Incredibile so early? Were you one of the lucky ones to have their pre-order shipped?

Fairfax here. I noticed in the Wirefly.com video that the tester was in Reston according to his location/clock/weather widget. I've also noticed a couple reviewers were from Florida. They probably got a 'reviewers' pre-release, but it killing me that it's so close but still over a week away!

Just thought of another thing that was a bit counter intuitive.

When you swipe the screen you are basically pushing the screen in the direction you swipe. Swipe the main screen right to left pushes it left and brings up the first home screen to the right.

Using the optical trackpad this is actually backwards. A right to left swipe over the trackpad will bring you to the first home screen to the left similar to moving a camera operated by a joystick to that direction.

Was weird and definitely feels like they should match up.
