Incredible GPS on airplane...Support

    ...not airplane mode...

    Will the Google "Maps" program work, that is, receive data and display it, while on an airplane?

    If the airline has WiFi that you can use, it probably will. If you leave the phone's radio on (which is illegal and against the direction of air crew, BTW) then it will try to use cell towers below you to pull the info. However, you're really high up and probably won't be able to get a good enough single to download map info.

    Bottom line, unless you have WiFi on the plane for you to use it probably won't work. And it's illegal try it any other way other than WiFi (if the aircrew says you can use it).

    I tried it the other day in airplane mode, and it followed me in real time pretty accurately over maps that already were in my cache.
