Is anyone elses phone not flipping back and forth from portrait to landscape view when they rotate the phone? Ive check the settings and it is set to change orientation when phone rotates but for some reason it is not doing it.

Any suggestions welcome. Thank you in advance.

It only rotates when you turn it one way, not the other.

try to recalibrate the G-Sensor calibration...mine was not even close

    Menu/settings/sound and display/G-Sensor calibration

(lay it on a flat surface and hit calibrate)

I saw one review that mentioned the incredible only works in landscape in ONE direction. That seems pointless. Is this true?

Where is the setting for Sense? Also, do I really want to turn sense off?? I don't think I do.

Basically....my phone no longer goes into landscape mode for anything....internet browsing or any text fields. It did yesterday but I have played around with it and not sure what I did that turned "off" the landscape view. Thanks for the help.

Yes, that is true. It only rotates one way which is a tad bit disappointing since they did improve the accelerometer in this device over prior devices that support mutliple landscape views/orientations.

Are you sure? Found my readings on this and testing on Droids and Incredible and the two incredibles I got yesterday Android OS devices seem to only go into landscape in one direction.

Same thing for me, found quick fix. I soft reset the phone. The only way I know of manually soft resetting the phone is by doing a *228, option 1, then once its done programming, it soft resets. Now my landscape orientation is working for text and browsing, unlike before. Hope this helps. Anyone else know how to soft reset quicker, just in case?

Can't you just hold the power button and choose "Power down". It powers down quick, then hit power button again to turn on.

I am no longer sure...LOL..because I just tried the browser and it only rotates the one way.....i swear there is some application where it rotates whatever way i want it to because remember trying to hit the track pad and my (right) thumb being at the top of the phone.....

the moto droid only rotates the screen to landscape in one direction too. i think the intent on the incredible is to keep the trackpad on the right side when in landscape. no love for you lefties! lol

I'm able to switch to landscape for web browsing and using some other tools, but not when I'm using Quick Search Box. And that is very important, as I'm using it very often, having problem entering text using tiny keyboard in portrait mode.

Does anyone have Quick Search Box switched to landscape?

My phone is stuck in Landscape in certain programs -- it will start out in portrait mode like in the browser for example, then I can change to Landscape. Cool. However, it won't go back to portrait :(

I have orientation checked in my settings and I have soft reset multiple times.

I'm starting to think it may be an app I downloaded... Anyone have any suggestions?

    Thanks,
    -Marcus

Even after I calibrated mine, sometimes I still need to shake it a bit for it to go into landscape

Could very well be an app interfering with the orientation or accelerometer settings. A "hard" reset of the device would most likely fix it, however I would first try removing any "settings" or profile-changing applications and resetting your device to see if that fixes the problem.

If you tilt the top of the phone away from you when you are trying to change orientation, it will switch faster.

I was having the same problem but know it works thanks. What I had to do is
    1. Check the orientationg box again.
    2. Turn the phonw off and on.

    Thanks for the help everyone.

I did the same thing with the same results. My phone only goes into landscape when I rotate the phone counter clockwise.
