There are a lot of topics repeating myths/misinformation on what the Incredible can and cannot do. Hardware-wise, there are certain things the Incredible will NEVER be able to do, as much as some people might hope/wish it could.

    1) Incredible will be able to use Verizon 4G Network

FALSE --- The Incredible has a 3G radio. That's it. It cannot EVER be used to access 4G. A software update cannot make the phone do something its hardware is incapable of doing. If you want to access 4G, you need a different phone.

    2) Incredible has a front-facing camera

FALSE --- People see two circles to the left of the Verizon logo on the front of the Incredible and think it's a flash and camera. WRONG. Light sensor and proximity sensor. That's it. There is no front-facing camera on the Incredible. Period.

    3) Incredible supports Wireless-N

TRUE/FALSE --- More true than false. Currently, the Incredible is limited to Wireless b/g. However, the Incredible hardware, per posted specs, can support Wireless n. We need a software update to turn it on though. Rumor has it that Froyo (Android 2.2) will allow access to Wireless-n networks

Hope this clears up some of the misinformation/myths regarding the capabilities of the Incredible...

    1 and 2 are obvious.

3 is a good topic though. Why do they call it Froyo? Is it Sense UI?

Froyo is Google's code name for Android v2.2.

Who knows why they decided to call it froyo, but it is different than senseui. Senseui is just a wrapper provided by htc to give a better overall experience to their phones vs ones that don't have it. Its just a marketing ploy but a decent one at that. Its something no other manufacturer offers right now, and they've done a good job at making it indispensable. Froyo is the name of the 2.2 android os or codename rather. Alot of companies do this. Windows Vista was called "longhorn" for some odd reason until it was released as "Vista", its just a codename like cupcake, eclair, etc.

All of their code names are desserts. Froyo = frozen yogurt.

It won't be different. You're running Android 2.1 with Sense UI as the user interface. Once Froyo (2.2) comes out, it'll be the same thing. Android 2.2 in the background with Sense UI running as your user interface.

Bascially any android phone can run android os 2.2, but only htc phones are licensed to run SenseUI. Its an HTC product they integrate to make the user experience better. They feel its features left out of the stock os, so they add them on top to present the phone to their customers in the fashion they wish to. Motoblur is the motorola equivilent, but other phones just ship with the stock android os and don't wrap it up in anything fancy.

I also like SenseUI and when i rooted my droid eris i chose a rom with senseui built in. Imo it makes for a much better user expericence overall.

The downside to it is, we won't get the 2.2 update as quickly as phones not running a wrapper. Phones without senseui will get the update while HTC is working on getting senseui working properly with the new os update. Therefore it'll be a month or 2 after others get the update before we are able to have it. But imo its worth the wait to have the extra functionality of senseui, so i'm happy to wait for them to get things worked out.

Also senseui can fix bugs in the original os without requiring a patch to the os, so if htc notices something wrong they can fix it before its released to their phones, which in the long run will lead to less frustration and complaints. We could go on and on comparing the pros and cons with it, but its here to stay and because we bought an htc phone, we have to live with it for now.

Does installing 2.2 - when it comes - out require starting from scratch on the phone (i.e. apps, contacts, settings, etc.)?

I would imagine not. 2.0 > 2.1 on the Droid did not.

Obvious to many, yes. But not to everyone. We still get threads with people asking if there is a front-facing camera or if the Incredible will support 4G.

Imo thats exactly why they are updating the eris's to 2.1 right now. They will have to start from scratch with their phones with jumping from 1.5 to 2.1, but the leap to 2.2 shouldn't be as dramatic, but then again who knows. We'll find out when we get there.

4: The Incredible will melt your old phone and bake you a cake

TRUE! Not literally, but you won't need your old phone, and there are a ton of recipe apps....
