Is there an IM app that does not keep your phone awake 100%? I tried eBuddy, but it keeps my phone awake. I'm not sure if meebo does... I think so. I haven't tried Nimbuzz, anyone know? Thanks!

I've been looking for an IM application that will allow my phone to sleep for a long time. The only solution I've found thus far is to use the default Google Talk application, and an AIM transport service to communicate with the AIM Servers.

A walkthrough for this process can be found here:
Connect Google Talk to AIM, MSN, & Yahoo

Although using this solution has done /wonders/ for my battery life, I find the whole set up to be somewhat buggy. A few users on my AIM buddy list wont even show up (offline or online), and a few friends have been reporting some "auto repeat issues." Very annoying.

    For example...

    Friend: Hey are you there?
    Me: Hey are you there?
    Friend: ...
    Me: ...
    Friend: WTF?
    Me: WTF?

The phone has to "stay awake" to keep a connection with the IM server. Allowing it to "sleep" would drop the connection, showing you offline. Both gtalk and aim support push, so I think thats how they keep alive without killing your battery.

What messaging service do you need to connect to?
