Intercept from Virgin

Hello All:
I have had my Samsung Intercept from Virgin Mobile for a couple weeks. My first android. I like it and of course want to make it better. I'm interested in doing the root thing and install 2.2, the wifi and all the things I've been reading about.
I suspect that since I registered here the search function may lead to something useful.
The only downside is that it's another logon/password to remember.

I am extremely interested in getting this phone. Virgin is offering unlimited data with no contract for $25/month!! 300 minutes of talk included. From what I can gather, this is by far the cheapest deal for unlimited data on an Android phone in the U.S.

Has anyone tried rooting this phone yet?
