Well, well, well. Where to begin...

I placed an order for the EVO on the Sprint discount site. Note that there was a $25 instant discount (making phone $174.99) but the mail-in rebate applies.

The $10 fee was on the plan order option page. It specifically was NOT asterisked to the '* items fall under your monthly discount'. So that answers that-no discount on $10 EVO premium data charge.

HOWEVER; in the resulting email I received at my work address the detailed invoice has NO mention of the $10 fee and it shows my monthly cost at $55.99 (20% from my employer).

NOWHERE on this is the $10 fee mentioned. Trust me I read ALL the fine print.

I've sent an email to the contact there to call me to discuss. I have no intention of paying the $10 fee and this gives me a bit more leverage as I assume it will be attempted to be applied after the fact.

One more thing for anyone who has ordered this way...I was never asked for any payment information! How the heck can they ship this to me?!

    Thanks

I assume you don't have to pay an activation fee through them right? Is shipping free or not, and do you pay sales tax?

i dunno bout the 10 fee not being indicated, but they will contact u to finalize how you'll pay once they receive your order info. Usually, evp will give u a choice between charging to your account or credit card.

Activation fee depends on your company's discount. Some companies get waived activation fees. Sadly, mine does not. =(

I heard Sprint Premier customers get their fees waived if you call customer service, so perhaps that may work?

What is the " Sprint discount site " you are referring to.

My understanding is no one can pre-order through sprint.

Also, stop being cheap about the $10. You know you're supposed to pay it, get a life and stop trying to scam sprint because their order system isn't perfect at the moment. You hit "GO" when you saw the $10 charge, just because the confirmation doesn't show it doesn't mean you didn't agree to it. The confirmation email is a courtesy. People like you annoy me with your cheapness. You'll waste an hour complaining about it on here, an hour with CS on the phone complaining about it, and another hour on here talking about it. 3 hours to save $120/year for something that you dont even deserve.

Go work some overtime instead and contribute to this country instead of sucking life out of it.

EVP, a third party, is not a Sprint hosted site but I am sure you knew that also.

Spoke to Sprint this morning. Sprint is not doing pre-orders, but they are letting CSRs take information for follow up sales calls on June 4. Here's what I found out:

    1. Discounts differ by company. There are even different discounts on monthly service and accessories. We're getting 18% off monthly service and 20% off accessories.
    2. Evo is not currently listed on Sprint company discount sites because I was told they only list currently available phones. Was told it would be on the site on June 4.
    3. CSR service was pretty good. Though no pre-order, my CSR said she'd be calling first thing in the morning on June 4 to set up our phone and account. Credit/approvals have already been done so we're basically just going to review and ok the purchase.
    4. Porting fee credits only apply to phones being directly owned and billed to companies, not individuals.
    5. Activation fee and overnight shipping will be free based on my company. She said many others don't have this feature.
    6. Phones are shipped with temporary # and number changes when Sprint completes the porting.
    7. Phone will still be $299 with $100 MIR per phone on release date.
    8. CSR advised us to save $. Was interested in SimplyEverything. Based on our calling habits and the fact that she said almost no 2-line family she's ever dealt with has come even close to the 3000 mins, we got EverythingData Family 3000 plan which is eligible for our monthly company discount. It's a $50/mo savings with 2 lines over the SE plan so we'll see how it goes.
    9. With our company discount agreement, we can upgrade/downgrade plan based on the first couple billing cycles. If we need more mins, we can switch to SE Family. If we need less, we can drop to 1500 EverythingData Family. Neither change if done within the first 3 months would require us to extend the contract another 3 months or for any time.
    10. Purchasing the Evo automatically qualifies us for Premier status with early upgrades and other special perks.
    11. The company discount link for Sprint is the official one. She said the one from Sprint takes you right a private store set up for you company so if it doesn't greet you with your company name, it's not the official Sprint site.
    12. Point of emphasis - EverythingData plans with Evo come with no 3G or 4G data caps but allow people to save if talking a lot isn't the top priority.
Now I have to admit, it was an incredibly pleasant conversation. If I get the call and my phones and service set up as planned, then I'll be impressed. She was fully aware of the Evo but said they were not allowed to actively sell it until it's June 4 release. They can respond to inquires, but not actively sell.

My experience with ATT has been dropped calls, high fees, and no special treatment so I hope this is the beginning of better reliability, better value, Premier perks, and uncapped 3G and 4G data living!:)

BTW, the 3000 mins match what we're getting with ATT, but that's just the talk side. We pay extra for 7pm nights/wknds, unlimited text, and data. It would cost at least $230 to get an even close match with ATT. Of course that would be minus the $100 Evo MIRs, unlimited data, Wimax, etc and, of course, no great high-end Android phones or 4G on ATT.

I can see this Sprint/Evo combo hurting ATT more than VZW.

Thanks to everyone that posted info. Thought I'd post this FYI for those planning to call Sprint directly.

It's back up now but non-functional. It seems they are simply a Sprint reseller (it says "Authorized Representative" under the Sprint logo) which is why they (may be) taking orders without payment.
