So my internal memory is getting eaten up and I don't know why. I have not downloaded any new apps, I haven't saved anything. It is has all been the same. It is freakin me out. It went from 69 of 159 to 101 of 159 today. What the heck is going on? I have cleared cache and everything else.

    Please help.

    Also,
I am rooted running TTG and gumbo kernal.

Since this is most likely an error caused by removing the stock ROM and using a different one, you will get more help in the ROOT forum.

I don't think that is true. I have been rooted for over a month now and this just started happening.

Doesnt matter. Many of those ROMs are unstable and problems may not always surface right away. You should read up on them more.

Im not sure what OS TTG is, which one is it? 1.5?1.6? AOSP?

The information in this thread is only partly true, some ROMs are incomplete because of the .27 kernel, but there are PLENTY of ROMs that are complete with no issues. There are a few things that can help you with the internal memory. Over on XDA there is a thread about a custom gumbo kernel + ram hack that will keep your internal memory at a nice level and also utilizes setcpu so that your hero runs at 660mhz and I mean SUPER FAST!!!! You should investigate and run the kernel he provided for the TTG rom ( i think he compiled one for that rom). I makes a world of difference, also do you use apps2sd? I am running a custom modaco rom with this enhanced kernel and my hero flies on any screen with zero lag. My internal memory rarely goes past 50mb used and my Ram always has 80mb or more free. No issues with anything else either. Check xda and see about that kernel if you don't have it running. Otherwise im not sure what could be causing it but im almost positive this kernel will help you out.

TTG is 1.5. And he's using the gumbo kernel.

I wonder if it isn't something to do with when it's syncing to google, or something along those lines that's causing his memory to fluctuate.

Not that it matters, considering he gained memory instead of losing it lol

I'm dealing with my fiance's moment that has this same issue. a file called 'tombstone' which keeps all the dumped files and what not. ppl have reported of files being created of up to 200mb coming from handcent, go figure. wonder if the hero has same issue?

Actually hes not gaining hes losing go back and read it again, he went from 69 of 159mb free to 101 of 159mb which is an increase of 32mb used, thus a decrease of free space.

Without knowing what apps you have running, I would go into manange applications and try clearing your cache for the apps you use the most. I find the biggest culprits are peep, market, youtube and albulms. Doesn't sound like he has the OC'd gumbo kernel because that one is configured with the internal memory killer that keeps your free Ram close to 80mb. I would verify that he's running the one with the Ram hack and not just the optimized one.
