[International] I want a divorce, my missus has "helpfully" updated for me.

Title says it all. There was my SGS4, sitting in its box on the shelf, all back to stock, unrooted, original firmware and the missus decided to have a play with it.

She has let it update OTA to Vodafone's latest MGG firmware. It has Knox enabled and a locked bootloader. I am not happy. It is at least still stock and as Vodafone would like.

Personally, I blame you dynomot! :aetsch:

Entirely your own fault. You should have placed a note on the box to the effect that it should not be touched or updated. How was your poor wife to know that she wasn't being helpful by updating it for you?

I suggest that you humbly apologise to her and buy her some flowers asap.

(I long ago, learnt never to side with men in situations such as this... we never win!)

You should have wrote the following on the box:

Open this box only if you want sex with your husband.

Your s4 would have then been as safe as houses.

Oh I knew the sympathy would be overwhelming. Particularly from certain quarters.:p

I merley posted as a warning. In all seriousness I haven't had a row or blamed my wife. I just asked why my SGS4 was out. She explained she wanted to have a look at it, she is slowly appreciating what she can do with modern phones, previously not giving a damn as long as it made calls, texts and took the occasional photo. She actually thought she might like to have it, rather than me sell it. That way she reasoned I could still play with it and get it back to how she would like it when I've finished "experimenting" (her word) She even said you could "restore a Nandroid" easily enough.

My shock and awe at her statement diffused any annoyance I had with her, and she is unaware that for my purposes of playing and flashing she has FUBARED me for now.

The happy result is she likes it and I get to play with it now it is stopping. I shan't tell her a Nandroid is currently out of the question, I shall just cosy up to her while she asks how to set it up to how she wants, I've been trying to show her for years now much fun messing with tech is, the irony is her messing and finally "getting it" may have stopped me for a while.

No, your quite right I don't. I showed her this thread, she thinks it's hilarious. She promises not to touch my Note 3
. (no one is aloud to touch my Note 3) and understands why, contrary to my usual mantra, updates aren't always a good thing. Her understanding is coming on leaps and bounds as she says "ah that's why you don't update your apps automatically." Indeed, I wait some times the old versions are better and even work.

She has shown an interest in phones and my general "geekiness" since she was wowed by me streaming family videos at my brother in laws over his smart telly. Even he wasn't sure (until I showed him) how I managed that. He was confused as to how his locked Wi-Fi was accessed as well. That one was easy, I simply picked up his router and read the default WPS key, and explained how he could set his own.

One for the firing squad there butty! :banghead: You can always get another one! :D

U need 2 password protect yr purchases on it asap. I think it's under notifications somewhere if I recall. Also make sure it's for each and every purchase as I think there is a 15 minute grace period by default, meaning the first purchase is password protected, but subsequent purchases within the next 15 minutes or so will be totally buckshee. It's a scandal!

Nope but you could sell him off, and pay for debt and even make a profit enough to buy another s4 to practise flashing on!

Yes it is easy to do, set up a DD for credit card payments, have only online statements, and a busy life takes over.

Well at least your car will be valeted for a while.
