Root [International] Rooting with Odin Failed. Need Help.

Nagrom, you just made my Friday (seriously)! :)

What's exactly is the issue with your SD card? I haven't installed any fixes on what basically is a Vodafone stock rooted firmware with TWRP recovery and a custom Kernel. (see my signature) and I can use Rootexplorer, the stock file manager. I can cut/copy any file between internal SD, external SD and the system files, all my media works etc etc. The only thing I cannot do is transfer apps to the external SD. Incidentally CWM recoveries are no longer supported by Kush (he who made them) and throw huge wobblies with Nandroids. Use TWRP recovery now.

ROM manager's tools don't work for me either, causing bootloops, and errors, why? I don't know. Odin mobile still works fine, and Root Explorer, Xposed Framework and Wannam Xposed work fabulously too.

Dynomat.

My SD Card card does seem writable now. Also, like you said. Wanam seems to work like a dream. Took a bit too get my head around, but got the theaming sorted now.
Add for ROM Toolbox, that's not that important.

Thanks again for your help.

Wouldn't mind a better recovery though. Not sure about flashing another rom yet.

Your welcome :) Told you we'd get it rooted ;)

Yeah I can't say I'm a big fan of TWRP recovery, but it does work. I flashed a new Kernel last weekend that works well, I've over clocked and under volted a little and the phone is working like a dream with great battery life. For instance it is currently 38% and had been off charge since 6.45am (it is now 10.13pm). I'm well pleased.

Later this weekend I plan to play with .qmg files and alter the boot animation. Perversely my start up tone is the Nokia start up tone (a homage to the happy days of my N95 and Symbian) I plan to make it the Nokia shaking hands with Samsung rather than Nokia underneath. :)

All good fun. I have yet to try a custom ROM, too many likely candidates seen to have issues, and there aren't that many to choose from anyway.

First things first is your battery charged? A stupid question, but a valid one. Secondly, and presuming your battery is OK is the phone doing anything at all, slight vibration, a screen flash, anything at all?

Thirdly, try this way of getting into download mode (Odin mode) the three key press in this order and hold VOLUME DOWN, HOME KEY AND POWER) or recovery mode (VOLUME UP, HOME KEY AND POWER) but do it while your battery is removed and holding the keys put the battery back in.

Keep trying :) It does, unfortunately sound from your post that you have "hard bricked" your phone, a risk you always take on flashing anything via Odin to it, but persist in trying to get it into either mode and if you succeed (I eventually got into download mode once with one of my phones after over an hour of trying). If it is hard bricked, I'm afraid it is dead. There is a slim chance of revival at a phones repair shop with JTAG flashing, but that is a specialist piece of equipment and is not that often successful itself.

Good luck, if you do get it into download mode reflash your stock firmware using Odin. If to recovery do a complete wipe and try to reboot.

Dynomot, I got many ideas from the solutions you have provided here for Nagrom. Do you have a collection of your ideas to make a complete guide to Note 3 (both processor versions) for rooting that eventually can be posted as PDF for all to see. There are so many advices littered on the net having missing steps that make many people end up screwing up their phones. I am saying this thinking that you may not have updated your guide already posted, keeping it up to date.

Thank-you :)

Unfortunately not, I always limit my advice to what has worked for me on my device and therefore only offer advice for those experiencing problems with the SM-N9005. (International Qualcomm Note 3). I have only recommended and posted links to firmwares and CF (Chain Fire) rooting files to other variants of Note 3 I know for a fact work. I no nothing of "Towel Root" , "Safe Strap" and other methods of rooting. It would be remiss of me to offer advice on these. As for a PDF - sorry no, it would take too much of my time as to what is a hobby.

... On the Odin screen you have your reactivation lock "ON", turn it "OFF" (menu>settings>general>security> reactivation lock and uncheck.

I have a feeling this is the cause of your troubles. :D ...

I just registered an account to say THANK YOU! I was already despaired after I flashed my Note 3 with Lollypop (with one Fail-Message, but was working) and then won't be able to root it again. Flashed again, asked Google, flashed with different Odin-Versions again and finally found your solution! You made my day! Thanks again!

Hi!
my root / xcover2 s7710 also failed with odin. I made it with odin 3.10. The messages were like those Nagrom had. Latest Android is from summer 2014, JB 4.1.2 / Finland (??Product code NEEpda, S7710XXAND2 CSC S7710OXXAND1??)
With odin I flashed this file: S7710OXEAMB3-20130713.7z. (pre-rebooted SamsungROM?). I had to remove the ext ".md5" for working. I used the proses I studied in many sites and is like here in the forum told. In the second time the result was that my pc crashed . Some new attempts I made with odin 307 with link of Dynomot. Same result. The end of the messages are here:
.....
<ID:0/008>system.img
<ID:0/008>_Xmit Write fail
<ID:0/008>XmitDaa fail..
<ID:0/008>All treads completed. (succeed 0/ failed 1)
<ID:0/008>Removed!!
<ID:0/008>Added

The phone respods only by "firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies". Kies do not find the phone. Download mode is ok. Also flashing JB 4.1.2 (above) failed. Do I have to give the phone to my son for a weight for fishing net?

NAGROM !

I may have seen your problem. I have gone on to the laptop in the first time in ages and had a look at your "thumb nail" photos (rather difficult on the phone). On the Odin screen you have your reactivation lock "ON", turn it "OFF" (menu>settings>general>security> reactivation lock and uncheck.

I have a feeling this is the cause of your troubles. :D

Reactivation lock stops anyone wiping your phone in the event it is stolen. You lock it down remotely making it inaccessible to thieving scum. However they factory reset it and wipe it before shipping it off to foreign lands where the IMEI isn't blocked. With reactivation lock on they can't, but neither can you root or flash anything with it.

Hi Dynomot, I have a very similar problem to Nagrom,

http://androidforums.com/threads/s4-softbricked-odin-firmware-flash-failing.1047244/

What is this "reactivation lock", is it a setting with the android OS ? what if the phone can't get into the OS like mine and is stuck in a bootloop?

Please help :D

Hi

I have a note 3 which appears on the face of it to be running stock 4.3 but an Arab version! ? I get the same failure others have mentioned when trying to root with CF or flash a stock rom via odin, I have no option in settings to turn off the lock, I think it was introduced on later versions of android. In an ideal world I would like to root and flash a more current android version but at the moment even getting a newer stock fails saying there are no newer versions. .. which there are I think

Please help! !!
