I am going to London soon for a little less than a week. What happens if I turn on my Verizon Nexus?? Will I get big charges from Verizon for international usage, or will nothing happen? Can I use the Wifi portion of the phone to Skype back to the US? If so, are there open Wifi spots in London?

If this won't work I guess I will buy a burn phone when I get there for minimal usage.

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Good question, I would like to know also! I will be going to Italy for 6 weeks in the summer myself.

Turn off your mobile data and mobile data roaming. Turn your phone on silent and don't answer any phone calls. How can they charge you after all that?

turn of all auto syncing , put in airplane mode, turn wifi on and sync on demand when connected to a wifi network.

I'll be doing the same very soon.

This is the safest way to do it.
