Invalid IMEI after Factory Reset.Support

  1. hurray

I recently did a factory reset on my HTC one x and now I cannot make or receive calls. I get Invalid IMEI error message. I dialed *#06# and got "IMEI Invalid." Under settings>Status, I get "unknown" under IMEI.
    My Anroid version is 4.1.5.

Is that definitely your Android version or a typo? 4.1.2 was the last 4.1.x as far as I'm aware.

Are you running a custom ROM of some sort?

Yes, my android version under Settings>About Phone says 4.1.5.

I bought this phone on ebay. It is a used phone. The guy had the same provider as mine. So I put the SIM and the phone was working fine. Then I did a factory reset as I wanted to get rid of all the applications the guys had installed.
But now I cannot make or recieve calls.

4.1.5? Are you sure that's a real HTC One X and not a replica of some sort? I've seen a couple of people here post about issues and then discover it's not even a real HTC One X.

    Under settings>About Phone

    Model number: HTC ONE X
    Android version: 4.1.5
Baseband version: HTC ONE X 201206010808
Kernerl version: HTC ONE X 4.1.5

Is IMEI number marked anywhere on the phone?

Can you download CID Getter and let me know if [ro.product.model], [ro.product.name] & [ro.product.manufacturer] are HTC One X, endeavouru/evita & HTC respectively.

As Tarek has suggested, it looks like you've been sold a fake, sorry :(

Personally, I would try to get a refund immediately.

    There is no android 4.1.5

Something strange is going on with that device

I believe so, yeah. So if the fakers have been clever, it may display the correct info.

Ok, I downloaded CID Getter and here's the info:

    [ro.product.model]: HTC One X
    [ro.product.name]: HTC One X
    [ro.product.manufacturer]: HTC

Looks like the phone is original HTC. It was working fine until yesterday. I tried to be a smart ass and deleted all the apps that was on the phone by doing a factory reset. Now I insert my SIM and it says Invalid IMEI.

No, your product name should be Endeavour or Evita. Also the Android and kernel versions from the about phone screen aren't real either.

If that was advertised as a One X and not a clone, you need to contact the seller ASAP. Do you have a link to where it was bought from so we can take a look?

It was my christmas gift from a relative. He bought it on ebay. It was used.
So even if it is a clone, why would I get Invalid IMEI after a factory reset whereas it was working fine previously.

No idea, sorry. I've no clue as to what the deal is with the software on cloned phones. The IMEI is supposed to be hard coded in to the firmware on the phone and untouchable.

Could well be the network has recognised it as a clone and blocked the IMEI, but I couldn't say that was actually the case with any degree of certainty.

    [ro.product.model]:HTC One X
    [ro.product.name]:endeavoru

Hi Prakashbalaji, as I mentioned in the post above, the IMEI is supposed to be hard coded into the phones firmware, a factory reset shouln't touch it.

What's the software/baseband/kernel info from your About Phone screen.

Your phone should come with at least a 1 year warranty as standard btw.
