iphone to old IncredibleGeneral

Last Updated:

I just moved from the iphone back to an incredible I had from when it first launched. Anyway, the incredible is on version 2.2, and I can't find a good link or anything to update the operating system. I've googled, binged and all else but can't find it anywhere. Any help would be appreciated!! Hoping this resolves the low space problem when the email is filled up. Thanks in advance!!

Try the all things root section of this guide and look for the stickies. The low memory error will always haunt this device but the right ROM and a moving apps to your SD can be of help. I even once wrote a guide on installing CyanogenMod 7 (my favorite ROM back then and easily, the this point, the most stable bug free experience) and it can be found here: http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=9

But first go here to unlock and root your phone: http://androidforums.com/showthread.php?p=3259327

Disclaimer: you may not be looking to root and all that jazz but this is the best way to optimize this device from a variety of standpoints, low memory being one concern. If you need any help, I am glad to be of service.

Yes. Root and experiment. My favorite rom is the wildstang83 stock gingerbread. Very sensible, I might add.

You'll find the files to upgrade to gingerbread here:

You'll find all the info on rooting and a link to fix the low on space error here:

Thank you for the replies! I actually did root, but that didn't do anything. The memory problem is with the regular email application. I deleted all the emails and the memory issue went away, but still I should be able to have more than 3 months worth of email in there.

What I noticed after gingerbread was that the e-mail was not saved on the phone anymore.

I have the original Inc which was replaced once under warranty and then crashed twice. Mainly overheating problem. Now it has a long run of working well but I wonder for how long. I am considering getting the iPhone 4s before the June 28 rate hike. You are the perfect person to give advice on why you switched and switched back. Many thanks. Hope you will forgive this being off topic. Marion
