Is there a device like an ipod touch running android? Its for one of my kids, so I don't want a phone, just an mp3, media player that can connect to wifi and download apps like the touch.

Why not just get an iPod touch?

We keep getting rumors of one but nothing ever comes. There is the zii egg which still seems to be a dev platform more than an end user device. There is a definite need for one

Because an ipod touch is an apple product, so your stuck with using itunes and dealing with their warranty service.

i USED to have a sidekick with Tmobile. i ONLY had a data plan. if you buy an android phone (if they still allow you to) with ONLY a data plan i assume it would work the same but without the phone... AT&T might also allow this with their phones, i KNOW verizon and Sprint make you have a voice plan in addition.

The OP doesn't seem to have an issue with either of these as he mentioned he owns another iPod touch.
